The role in a nutshell:
We're building teams to help us succeed in our mission to upgrade the world to a better financial system. As an intermediate engineer, you’ll be joining a group of highly motivated software engineers who you’ll work collaboratively with across our pods.
As a fast-growing company with offices around the world, you’ll immediately see how your contributions directly impact both our internal users and client experience. Many of the problems we are solving result in trail blazing solutions which can’t be found on Stack Overflow; so we’re looking for engineers who flourish working in a complex domain.
Your mission will be:
- Build distributed microservices that are accessed by 10m customers from across the globe.
- Design, build and maintain advanced applications services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Write testable, maintainable code for robustness and reliability.
- Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
- Write code that directly affects users, the company and the Bitcoin ecosystem.
A little about you:
- Background in computer science in areas such as algorithms, data structures, and software design.
- Proven experience leading development efforts and guiding engineering teams through end-to-end project delivery.
- Extensive programming experience in Backend based technologies. Go(lang) is preferable.
- A continuous improvement mindset.
- BSc/MSc/PhD in computer science or other technical discipline, or equivalent working experience.
- To be friendly, transparent, articulate and driven to succeed.

The role in a nutshell:
As a Quantitative Software Engineer (Quant Dev) at Luno, you will design, build, and operate the high-performance systems and mathematical models that underpin our trading, pricing, and market-making capabilities.
You will sit at the intersection of quantitative research and production engineering, translating quantitative ideas, models, and strategies into robust, low-latency, production-grade systems that operate reliably in a 24/7 global market. Your work will directly impact liquidity, pricing quality, risk management, and customer outcomes.
Your mission will be:
Quantitative Strategy Engineering
- Partner closely with quantitative researchers to implement, optimise, and productionise trading and pricing models.
- Translate mathematical models, research prototypes, and proofs-of-concept into scalable, reliable production systems.
- Validate assumptions, edge cases, and numerical stability when moving models from research to live environments.
Trading & Market Systems
- Build and evolve market-making, pricing, and execution logic across crypto markets.
- Develop automated internal transfer, rebalancing, and hedging mechanisms.
- Configuration: Add and refine console parameters to optimise for volume, spread, profit, or rebalancing.
Performance, Quality & Risk
- Profile, benchmark, and optimise code paths critical to trading performance.
- Implement regression testing, simulation, and backtesting frameworks to ensure correctness and risk controls.
- Ensure strategies and systems meet governance, auditability, and compliance requirements.
Ownership & Delivery
- Own initiatives end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Align technical delivery with OKRs and broader Treasury / Trading objectives.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering Managers to shape realistic priorities and timelines.
Collaboration & Coaching
- Act as a bridge between quantitative research and engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers on quantitative systems, numerical correctness, and best practices in trading system design.
- Contribute to raising the overall bar for engineering excellence within the team.
A little about you
Experience
- Proven experience as a software engineer, with exposure to or strong interest in quantitative finance, trading systems, or financial infrastructure.
- Experience working with trading models, pricing systems, or data-driven decision engines is a strong advantage.
Technical Strength
- Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, with solid foundations in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Experience writing production-grade, performance-sensitive systems.
- Familiarity with numerical computing, modelling, or statistical techniques is beneficial.
Quantitative Mindset
- Comfortable working with mathematical models and translating them into software.
- Able to reason about trade-offs between model sophistication, performance, and operational risk.

Senior Full Stack Engineer
The Role - What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Join a rapidly growing team to help BCB build and scale our products and deliver them to clients.
- Use your software engineering skills to develop, test, release, support and maintain complex financial platforms. Our backend is written in Node driven by SQL databases and our front-end uses the Angular framework. All our services run in google cloud in Kubernetes.
- Work closely with product managers to focus on new feature design, build and ship scalable products.
So, what are we looking for?
- 5+ Years Experience in software engineering.
- Experience working with microservices and distributed systems architecture.
- Expert proficiency in server-side development.
- Proficiency in TypeScript.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and message queuing systems, ideally Google Pub/Sub, Kafka.
- Experience with Node.JS and server frameworks, ideally NestJS.
- High level expertise in SQL development and database programming: MySQL/PostgreSQL.
- Good working knowledge of front-end frameworks, ideally Angular.
- Knowledge of Cloud Platforms, ideally Google Cloud..
- Expertise in automated testing at unit, integration and system level.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms, ideally gitlab.
- Experience in Fintech/Banking is highly desirable.
- Take ownership of key architectural decisions and contribute to the technical roadmap.
- Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices within the team.
