We are seeking a highly capable Thermal Test Engineer to join our satellite design and manufacturing team in the UK. This role is central to the verification and validation of spacecraft thermal performance across the full development lifecycle, from subsystem qualification through to full satellite environmental test campaigns. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and analyzing a range of thermal test campaigns for spacecraft and payload hardware. Working closely with thermal analysts, systems engineers, AIT teams, and customers, you will ensure our satellites meet mission thermal requirements and perform reliably in the space environment. 

This position offers a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering mission-critical thermal solutions; you'll solve complex analytical challenges, influence design decisions, and contribute to next-generation satellite platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with hands-on environmental test experience who is passionate about spacecraft verification and enjoys solving complex thermal challenges. This role doesn’t necessarily require prior Space Engineering experience provided you have a strong background in Thermal Design & Testing from a relatable industry.  

Scope of the role: 

• Lead the planning, preparation, and execution of various types of thermal testing of Spacecraft Systems including:  
  • Thermal Vacuum Testing (TVAC) 
  • Thermal Balance and Characterization Tests

We are building a next-generation network connecting satellites, ground stations, and cloud infrastructure. This system must operate across dynamic, intermittent links and deliver data reliably into cloud-based workloads. We are looking for a Network Engineer to strengthen the systems deployed directly at our antennas, a set of servers and network devices installed on-site to receive, demodulate, and transport satellite data to the cloud.

This is a hands-on role working across routing, overlay networking, edge systems, and cloud connectivity.

• Network Design & Architecture: Design L3 network topology across satellite, ground, and cloud environments, define IP addressing schemes, segmentation, and routing domains and model connectivity patterns and failure scenarios.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain automated ground stations for satellite telemetry, tracking, and control (TT&C).

Spire is making a fundamental shift in how it operates its constellation. We are moving from a model where trained operators watch dashboards and escalate to experts, to one where the system is fully autonomous, self-healing, and data intelligent. This team is building that future, and this role sits at the center of it. 

The old model relies on operators, escalations, manual processes, and institutional knowledge locked in the heads of a few experts. It does not scale and it does not belong in a modern space company. Role Responsibilities:  

• Own the technical quality of mission operations during the on-orbit service period, ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are well defined, monitored, and maintained. 
• Assess and design strategies to address underperformance, providing detailed technical insight and coordinating resolution strategies in collaboration with Systems Engineering, Mission Design, and SRE. 
• Define and manage the high-level structure and performance requirements of asset profiles, ensuring they accurately represent mission needs and provide a clear basis for verification. • Bridge the gap between Systems Engineering, Mission Design, Program Management, Customer Service, and SRE by providing technical leadership during the mission service period. Define the tooling and functional monitoring needs that enable the SRE team to maintain constellation health and respond effectively to deviations. 
• Support SRE, Platform, and Customer Service leads in triaging constellation or satellite issues that deviate from nominal asset profile definitions, ensuring escalation paths and responses are technically justified. 
• Act as a technical reviewer and contributor during Mission Readiness Review (MRR) and pre-launch handover, ensuring operational teams are equipped with validated, well-understood assets and clearly defined expectations for mission performance. 
• Identify operational risks and propose mitigations related to in-orbit performance, platform limitations, or evolving CONOPS. 
• Ensure technical consistency and justification for on-orbit changes such as mode transitions, re-tasking, or adjustments to duty cycles or resource allocations. Lead the rollout of complex fleet-wide changes when CONOPS are being updated, ensuring risks and dependencies are managed. 
• Collaborate across SRE, Platform, and Systems teams to codify lessons learned into reusable operational standards, documentation, and improved design practices for future missions. 
• Derive and maintain Operational Requirements by helping project teams translate mission and system-level requirements into operational-level non-functional requirements (SLOs, latency, freshness, availability), with verification methods and traceability. 
• Support configuration control during service, helping manage the versioned operational baseline (limits, parameters, tasking configurations) and working with SREs, System Owners, and Customer Service to prevent configuration drift across the fleet. 
• Support the definition and coverage of FDIR (Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery) logic, ensuring coverage against top failure modes and reducing residual operational risk over time.

• BSc in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant technical discipline. 
• 3+ years of experience in system performance monitoring, root cause analysis, and anomaly resolution.

We are looking for a Spacecraft Software Engineer (GNSS) to join our team working at the intersection of satellite payloads, scientific computing, and data delivery systems. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining both the flight and ground software that powers our satellite-based GNSS missions. You’ll work across system layers—from embedded software to cloud data pipelines—to help ensure the accurate and timely delivery of mission-critical scientific data to our customers.

What You'll Do as a Senior Software Engineer:

• Develop and maintain scientific and command & control software for GNSS-based satellite payloads using a variety of software stacks.   

• Build and operate ground-based automation systems for efficient data extraction, transformation, and delivery from the satellite to end users.   

• Collaborate closely with flight operations to troubleshoot and ensure consistent, high-quality data delivery.

Who You Are (Required Qualifications):

We're looking for someone with at least 5 of the following qualifications:   

• Proficient in at least one of C++ or Python, and capable of picking up new tools and languages as needed.   

• Experience in FPGA development (VHDL or HLS) for signal processing or control systems.   

• Solid background in DSP techniques and theory, especially in the context of RF or GNSS.   

• Familiarity with GNSS signal processing and/or scientific applications such as GNSS-RO, GNSS-R, or PNT algorithms.

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer with a background in electronics to join our growing Quality team. The role will focus on quality assurance of Spire’s electronic systems, ensuring the reliability and compliance, both within spacecraft hardware and ground-based supporting equipment. Alongside your specialism, you will also contribute across the broader quality domains including manufacturing, supplier quality, engineering, and process improvement. 

The Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with managers and team leads, to implement effective quality measures within their respective teams. 

To excel as a Quality Engineer at Spire, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving abilities, ensuring that all processes and products consistently meet or exceed established quality standards. 

What You’ll Do as Quality Engineer:  

Electronics Quality (Primary Focus): 

• Develop and implement quality strategies for electronic assemblies & parts, covering internal developments, COTS components, PCBs, and embedded systems across the full product lifecycle.
• Co-ordinate and support engineering design, test, and manufacturing teams in conducting failure analyses, root-cause investigations, and corrective/preventive actions (e.g. RCA, 8D, 5-Why).
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on in-process quality performance.
• Provide quality oversight of electronic manufacturing processes, including soldering, PCB assembly, reflow, conformal coating, and component selection.
• Collaborate with design engineering to drive DFM, DFT, and reliability improvements.
