Wat ga je doen als AI & Data Engineer?
Als AI & Data Engineer ben je een belangrijke drijvende kracht van ons Innovation Development Team, gericht op het bedenken, onderzoeken en snel prototypen van nieuwe AI- en datagedreven oplossingen. Jouw expertise zal de kloof overbruggen tussen geavanceerde data science-concepten en functionele, aantoonbare MVP's. 

Je werkt actief samen met onze Data Scientists en Solution Engineers en draagt bij aan de conceptualisering, het methodologisch ontwerp en de experimentele implementatie van marketingoplossingen. Jouw rol is om deze innovatieve ideeën snel tot leven te brengen als functionele prototypes, en hun waarde en potentieel te bewijzen. Dit omvat werken over de gehele stack – van het ontwikkelen van interactieve front-end demonstraties (React/TypeScript) tot het creëren van Python-gebaseerde back-end services die baanbrekende modellen integreren. Je zet agile, experimentele omgevingen op (bijv. in AWS, gebruikmakend van Docker) om nieuwe benaderingen te valideren, waarbij snelheid, iteratie en het aantonen van functionaliteit prioriteit krijgen. Jouw doel is om de volgende generatie AI-producten voor onze klanten en collega's te verkennen, valideren en demonstreren, en zo de basis te leggen voor toekomstige schaalbare oplossingen. 

Jouw Belangrijkste Verantwoordelijkheden: 

• AI/Data Innovatie & Prototyping: Leiden van de exploratie, conceptualisering en snelle ontwikkeling van proofs-of-concept en MVP's voor innovatieve AI- en datagedreven producten. Intensief focussen op het aantonen van technische haalbaarheid en bedrijfswaarde.
• Toegepaste Data Science Engineering: Nauw samenwerken met Data Scientists aan modelconceptualisering, experimenteel ontwerp en initiële implementatie. Geavanceerde statistische en machine learning-modellen vertalen naar functionele prototypes en aantoonbare oplossingen.
• Full-Stack Prototyping: Ontwikkel zowel de front-end componenten (React, TypeScript) voor intuïtieve interfaces van nieuwe tools als de Python-gebaseerde back-end services die onze innovatieve oplossingen aandrijven, altijd met het oog op snelle iteratie en effectieve demonstratie.
• Technische Brug & Methodologische Bijdrage: Fungeren als een cruciale schakel tussen Data Scientists en Engineers. Je draagt actief bij aan methodologische discussies vanuit een engineeringperspectief, helpt bij het vertalen van complexe data science-behoeften naar haalbare technische ontwerpen voor snelle prototyping en begeleidt de evolutie van onze innovatiepijplijn.
• Exploratie & Onderzoek: Continu onderzoek doen naar en evalueren van opkomende AI/ML-technologieën, data science-technieken en engineeringtools om nieuwe innovatiemogelijkheden te identificeren en de toepassing ervan binnen het team aan te bevelen. 

Wie ben jij?
Je bent een proactief, nieuwsgierig en oplossingsgericht persoon met een passie voor innovatie, snelle experimentatie en een sterk verlangen om te bouwen. 

• Je hebt een Masterdiploma of gelijkwaardige werkervaring in een kwantitatief of technisch vakgebied zoals Data Science, Econometrie, Computer Science, Wiskunde of Statistiek.
• Je hebt minimaal 5 jaar hands-on ervaring in een vergelijkbare innovatiegerichte rol, aantoonbaar met een sterke staat van dienst in het snel tot leven brengen van nieuwe technische oplossingen.
• Een sterke fundamentele kennis van statistische modellering, machine learning-algoritmen en data science-methodologieën, inclusief het vermogen om te discussiëren over en bij te dragen aan experimenteel ontwerp, modelvalidatie en -evaluatie.
• Bekendheid met kernconcepten zoals tijdreeksanalyse, regressie en clusteringalgoritmen is zeer gunstig.
• Ervaring met Bayesiaanse statistiek is een pré.
• Proactieve & Experimentele Mindset: Je bent van nature nieuwsgierig, gedijt goed in ambiguïteit en wordt gedreven om snel te itereren, te experimenteren en snel te leren van mislukkingen. Jouw primaire focus ligt op het efficiënt genereren en bewijzen van nieuwe ideeën.
• Expertise in Python voor datamanipulatie, scripting en het snel bouwen van API-gestuurde prototypes die AI/ML-modellen integreren.
• Vaardigheid in het opzetten en benutten van cloudservices (AWS heeft de voorkeur) voor experimentele omgevingen (bijv. Lambda, S3, RDS, EC2 voor snelle deployments).
• Bekendheid met containerisatie (Docker) voor consistente prototyping-omgevingen.
• Comfortabel met SQL voor efficiënte data-exploratie en -integratie (bijv. met Snowflake).
• Ervaring met Git voor versiebeheer in een agile, experimentele setting.
• Overbruggen & Communicatie: Uitzonderlijk vermogen om diepe data science-concepten te vertalen naar technische implementatiedetails, het bevorderen van samenwerking en afstemming tussen disciplines voor snelle innovatie. Je blinkt uit in het faciliteren van technische discussies en het verbinden van specialisten.

Overview

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Experiences Team. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across platforms. It's a critical role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of product and infrastructure, thinks strategically, and is passionate about designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance the user experience.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope to get faster feedback from customers, navigate the integration/UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK
• Optimize existing functionality to ship things like faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing more efficient abstractions and improving our algorithms
• Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin

Required:

• 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed code (.NET) and native code.
• Proven track record of designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop applications, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows (e.g. Microsoft UI Automation or similar), and a dedication to building accessible and inclusive software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or asynchronous programming (where relevant).
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring other engineers, conducting code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
• Strong communication skills; ability to articulate tradeoffs, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive consensus.
• A user-centric mindset: focus on building polished, intuitive, and accessible experiences for end users.

Preferred / Bonus:

• Experience with writing automated tests for UI — unit tests, integration tests, UI automation tests; familiarity with relevant testing frameworks.
• Experience with performance optimization for desktop apps (memory usage, startup time, rendering performance, high-DPI support, responsiveness under load).
• Experience with localization/globalization, right-to-left UI support, internationalization, accessibility for multiple regions.
• Familiarity with telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, logging, and error monitoring in desktop applications.
• Previous experience in shaping CI/CD workflows, release pipelines, and deployment strategies for desktop applications.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of feature areas or modules and drive them long-term, including maintenance, refactoring, and technical debt management.

What will you do as a Full Stack Software Engineer?
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will ensure that our software services and applications on our cloud platforms (primarily AWS) are maintained and built. This involves working on both the front-end (React/TypeScript) and the back-end (Python), ensuring our systems are reliable, scalable, and maintainable. In close collaboration with data scientists, product owners, and other engineers, you will build and deploy various solutions, ensuring they are production ready. The development process is supported by our in-house development libraries and a streamlined CI/CD pipeline. A core part of your responsibility will be to translate complex business questions into concrete technical solutions to develop and maintain innovative products. 

Your key responsibilities: 

• Product Development: You will develop, validate, and maintain both the front-end (React, TypeScript) and the back-end (Python) of our applications. You will be able to independently analyze and resolve complex technical issues and proactively propose new solutions and improvements.
• Platform Professionalization: You will design and implement robust solutions for logging, monitoring, and alerting to guarantee the stability and performance of the platform.
• DevOps & CI/CD: You will build and manage automated deployment pipelines with tools like GitHub Workflows, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Cloud Infrastructure: You will work extensively with cloud platforms (primarily AWS) and manage services such as relational databases (RDS) and serverless functions (Lambda).

Your profile: 

• You have a university-level (WO) work and thinking ability, with a degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• You have at least 3 years of work experience in a similar role as a Full Stack Software Engineer.
• Expertise in front-end development with React and TypeScript.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Extensive experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL via AWS RDS).
• Demonstrable experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• You have experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and version control in GitHub (e.g., Workflows).
• You are highly proficient in working with cloud platforms, with a strong preference for AWS. Experience with AWS Lambda is a nice-to-have.
