As an Accountant at Ozow, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial operations that underpin our fast‑paced fintech environment. This role offers exposure across debtors, creditors, distributor accounting, and core accounting operations, working closely with cross‑functional teams such as Data, Technology, Legal, Commercial and FinOps. It’s an ideal opportunity for a detail‑driven accounting professional who thrives on ownership, problem‑solving, and contributing to accurate, scalable financial processes in a growing digital payments business. 

Your role and responsibilities 

Debtors & Merchant Billing  

• Own merchant invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness and alignment with contractual billing structures 
• Investigate and resolve escalated debtor queries requiring detailed understanding of billing logic, data sources (e.g. data environments and merchant dashboards) and invoicing mechanics 
• Perform credit note calculations and maintain and manage the credit note schedule, ensuring appropriate support, accuracy and timely escalation for approval 
• Prepare regular debtors reporting for internal stakeholders, manage escalations, and make recommendations on aged or delinquent accounts 

Distributor Accounting  

• Calculate distributor commissions in accordance with contractual terms, validating calculations with the Data team  
• Prepare and distribute commission reports to distributors 
• Post distributor commission journal entries and prepare related balance sheet reconciliations 

Creditors & Payments  

• Oversee the transfer of approved supplier invoices from procurement system to the accounting system, ensuring process effectiveness and completeness 
• Perform creditor statement reconciliations and investigate variances 
• Resolve escalated creditor queries requiring accounting judgment or cross-functional engagement 
• Prepare payment runs and load beneficiaries and payments in accordance with approved payment processes 
• Prepare VAT and EMP payments for review by the Senior Accountant 
• Load bulk payments to Netcash as required 
• Execute approved fund movements between bank accounts, including transactional and call accounts, in line with treasury procedures 

Accounting Operations & Reconciliations 

• Prepare schedules of prepaid expenses, accruals, banking fees and interest for review by the Senior Accountant 
• Maintain monthly schedules of new fixed asset additions 
• Post bank payments and receipts not handled at an administrative level 
• Prepare bank reconciliations, including full allocation of transactions and completion of the first-level reconciliation 
• Take ownership of the accounting and reconciliation of all bank accounts within Xero, including both operational and merchant-related accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy of recorded transactions and closing balances 
• Work closely with the FinOps team to ensure accurate accounting treatment and alignment of merchant fund balances between bank statements, internal records, and the general ledger 
• Ensure timely and accurate recording and reconciliation of bank fees and interest across all accounts, including high-volume transaction fees, with appropriate allocation between cost of sales and operating expenses 
• Maintain accurate cashbook records, including posting and reconciliation of inter-account transfers and other non-standard bank transactions 
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items, variances, and unallocated transactions in a timely manner, escalating where appropriate 
• Prepare ad hoc journal entries relating to merchant activity (e.g. vouchers and adjustments), subject to review 

Compliance & Support Activities  

• Assist with the compilation of creditor-related documentation and schedules required for BEE verifications 
• Assist in maintaining audit readiness by ensuring supporting documentation is complete, organised, and readily available, and by supporting the Senior Accountant with audit submissions and auditor queries 
• Assist with non-routine compliance activities, including internal audit engagements, tax-related matters, and other regulatory requirements, ensuring timely and accurate support across the finance function 
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and policies by identifying inefficiencies, proposing enhancements, and supporting implementation of improved controls and workflows 

You are an ideal candidate if you have 

• A completed BCom degree in Accounting or equivalent (essential). 
• 3–5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in a fintech, financial services, payments, or high‑transaction environment. 
• Proven experience across debtors, creditors, and general ledger accounting. 
• Strong understanding of billing structures, invoicing logic, and reconciliation principles. 
• Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and schedules. 
• Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. Sage, NetSuite, Xero or similar ERP systems). 
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations. 
• Experience working with large data sets and validating calculations with data or analytics teams. 
• Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness. 
• Strong problem‑solving skills, particularly when investigating variances, queries, or escalations. 
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise in a fast‑moving environment. 
• Confident communicator, able to engage with internal stakeholders and external partners (merchants, distributors, suppliers). 
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned processes.

As an Accounts Administrator at Ozow, you’ll play a key supporting role within the Finance team, ensuring the smooth execution of essential financial and administrative processes. This role sits at the intersection of banking administration, debtor and creditor support, document management, and asset-related administration, making it ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organised, and eager to grow their finance career in a fast-paced fintech environment. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure across multiple finance functions while contributing meaningfully to a high-performing, innovative organisation. 

Your role and responsibilities 

Banking & User Administration  

• Maintain and administer the Company’s banking matrices, including users, signatories and authorisation structures, in coordination with Legal and Finance leadership 
• Manage bank user onboarding, amendments and offboarding, including completion of required forms and maintenance of up-to-date user access schedules 
• Maintain accurate records of bank account structures, user access and related documentation across multiple banking platforms 

Asset & Insurance Administration 

• Maintain insurance schedules for all insured assets, ensuring completeness and alignment with the fixed asset register 
• Liaise with IT and the accounting team to ensure insured items are accurately reflected and kept up to date 
• Support ongoing insurance administration and documentation requirements 
• Work with the Senior Accountant to maintain the accuracy and completeness of the fixed asset register 

Document Management & Finance Administration 

• Maintain an organised electronic filing system for finance-related documentation, including consistent naming conventions and version control 
• Ensure all relevant financial documents are stored, updated and easily retrievable for audit, compliance and operational purposes 
• Assist with the compilation of supporting documentation and administrative schedules required for BEE verifications 

Debtors Administration 

• Manage routine debtor follow-ups and reminders in line with agreed collection processes 
• Administer merchant debit orders, including monitoring and follow-up where required 
• Allocate debtor receipts via the cash book in a timely and accurate manner 
• Maintain the debtors inbox, ensuring appropriate routing, hygiene and timely escalation of queries 
• Respond to and manage simple debtor queries, escalating more complex issues to the Mid-Level Accountant or Senior Accountant where necessary 

Creditors Administration 

• Maintain the accounts inbox, ensuring effective routing, follow-up and inbox hygiene 
• Respond to routine creditor queries and escalate more complex matters appropriately 
• Process supplier invoices by uploading to Precoro in accordance with established procedures 
• Process credit card receipts and employee expense claims via Dext 
• Own follow-up of outstanding invoices, receipts and approvals to ensure timely processing 
• Coordinate supplier onboarding documentation, including obtaining required forms and bank confirmation letters  

You are an ideal candidate if you have 

• A relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Business Administration (certificate, diploma, or degree). 
• 1–3 years’ experience in an accounts, finance administration, or bookkeeping role. 
• Exposure to both debtors and creditors administration is advantageous. 
• Experience working with banking platforms, financial documentation, or user/access administration will be beneficial. 
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debtors, creditors, cashbooks, invoice processing). 
• Experience using accounting or finance systems (e.g. invoice processing tools, expense management systems, or ERP platforms). 
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
• High attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure. 
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple administrative streams.

Your Role at impact.com

The basic purpose of this position is to fill a need within the Corporate Accounting finance team involved in the day-to-day core accounting functions within the business. Carrying out effective financial controls over the functions allocated including, as well as the ability to adapt and implement change to the existing processes within the financial control environment. You will be expected to collaborate and support the group Corporate Accounting function, the FP&A function on an ad hoc basis, providing support to the Technical accounting function and any other functions that require support within the parameters of the role. You will play a key-role in the month-end close and reporting process, contributing to ensuring that our reporting is timeously and accurately closed in line with the business objectives and group accounting policies. The candidate is a fast learner, a self-starter and capable of producing work of a high quality without close supervision.

What You'll Do

Description of the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position (both individual and supervisory, if applicable)

• Under limited supervision, responsible for accounting relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger across the various subsidiaries within the group, as well as ensuring analysis in relation to those areas are complete.
• Overall responsibility for accounting activities including the monthly close processes, ensuring that these areas are closed accurately and timeously in line with Finance close objectives each month.
• Further to the above, responsible for consuming and developing the operational system input and ensuring those inputs are complete, valid and accurate. 
• Implementing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliation initiatives ensuring balance sheet account reconciliations are built (if this does not exist) and maintaining these schedules on a monthly basis as part of the close process. 
• Act as a first reviewer on the allocated areas within the close process to ensure the output of the processes above is in line with expectations before Manager review.
• Ensure all unreconciled and aged transactions on the reconciliations are appropriately and timeously addressed.
• Collaborate and support the FP&A function on an ad hoc basis.
• Assisting with Group and statutory audits. In addition, assisting with all compliance procedures.
• Respond to ad hoc requests and prepare any necessary internal reporting as needed. 
• Proactively anticipate and identify issues and design solutions to address them.
• Other duties as assigned by the Company.

What You Bring

• Newly qualified CA(SA) (0-2 years post articles)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/similar degree in finance.
• Experience as a self-starter who can manage multiple projects and priorities in a highly complex environment with evolving priorities and deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools and technologies, with the ability to leverage them to improve workflows or decision-making.
• Deep proficiency with Excel analysis and manipulation of large data sets, including use of pivot tables and lookup formulas.
• Strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, and the ability to deliver clean and concise work products.
• Ability to proactively identify problems, design solutions, and implement changes.
• Experience performing general ledger account reconciliations and analysis.
• Experience collaborating and communicating with senior levels of management, cross-functional teams and departments, and external auditors.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of how a SaaS company operates is advantageous.
• General proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Interest in working as part of an international team across time zones and regions.
• Experience working with reporting tools and SQL would be advantageous.
• Experience in US GAAP is advantageous.
