We are seeking an dynamic and systems-oriented Instructional System Designer to join the Test & Evaluation Training team. This role will focus on designing scalable frameworks, processes, and platforms to implement technical training solutions that meet the needs of both internal employees and external clients.
The ISD will collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Training Operations, Curriculum Developer, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to operationalize training content into systems and structures that enable seamless delivery and accessibility for diverse end-user audiences. As a key partner in training lifecycle, the ISD will help design the “how” of training delivery with a focus on scalability, effectiveness, and system performance. They will also play a critical role in ensuring that training solutions are delivered efficiently while navigating complex environments shaped by the Air Force and other military standards and regulations.
The ideal candidate is a strong systems thinker with a proven ability to navigate ambiguous environments, particularly within technical and military training contexts. They bring a background in designing and implementing learning systems, along with the skills to collaborate effectively across multiple business lines and cross-functional teams.
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. The ideal candidate is proficient in Cortona3D/Rapid Learning for Teamcenter, TypeScript, and familiar with Articulate Storyline 360 for training content development. You will be responsible for translating complex technical information into visually compelling and instructionally sound digital experiences that support performance and retention.

This role is a dedicated Instructional Designer responsible for developing and structuring GILLIG’s technical training curriculum and content across instructor-led, blended, and digital delivery models. This role is based at GILLIG's headquarters in Livermore CA with direct access to the production plant. This exposure provides a hands-on experience to vehicles throughout the build process from chassis assembly through final completion to create accurate, service-ready training materials grounded in real-world applications.
The Instructional Designer translates complex engineering documentation, service manuals, technical publications, and subject matter expertise into clear, structured training assets, including instructor-led materials, learner and trainer guides, and digital learning content. This role is responsible for assessing existing materials, identifying content gaps, and building new training solutions where none exist today. A strong focus on establishing a scalable, forward-looking training framework rather than maintaining legacy content. Working cross-functionally with Field Service, Engineering, Publications, and Manufacturing, the Instructional Designer ensures training reflects build intent and real-world service conditions.

EXPECTED COMPENSATION
$75,000 - $120,000/annual salary + premium benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job classification, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. As a Senior Instructional Designer, you will own the creation of highly engaging, technically accurate learning experiences that help customers, partners, and internal teams deepen their mastery of Workato’s Orchestrate and Agentic capabilities.
