POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Associate 1 pulls parts and assists customers with their parts orders in addition to performing other general warehouse duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform general warehouse tasks.
- Provide any needed customer assistance.
- Fill orders for customers and shop.
- Stock receipting.
- Deliver parts.
- Order packing.
- General cleaning duties.
- Assists with warehouse rearrangements.
- Locates parts on shelves.
- Bin counts.
- Cycle counts.
- Truck loading and unloading.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have a valid California Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent (or equivalent experience).
- Must be able to obtain a valid forklift certificate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain.
- Handling: Works with hands.
- Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment parts. Up to 60lbs. daily, frequent exertion.
- Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
- Standing: Remains in standing position If required to perform various functions of the job.
- Climbing: In and out of equipment.
- Vision: Reads work tickets and parts books.
- Talking: Communicates via telecommunications and in person.
- Sitting: Sits in equipment and in vehicles.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
- Temp/Weather: Works in a warehouse and outside with variations of temperature and weather.
- Exposure: Foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Engine Service Tech 2 - Truck Shop troubleshoots mechanical problems in Caterpillar and allied products. With minimal supervision, the Engine Service Technician 2 - Truck Shop performs duties as assigned by management in the repair, maintenance and/or rebuilding of equipment in the service shop or field, in a safe, efficient and capable manner in the least amount of labor hours necessary and without re-work. Besides performing mechanical repair as directed, the Engine Service Technician 2 - Truck Shop also estimates work orders and prepares written quotes for submission to the Lead Person and/or Service Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoots all Caterpillar and related systems.
- Uses all test and diagnostic equipment available to make adjustments to truck engines and systems.
- Makes warranty recommendations.
- Performs minor welding, fabrication, plumbing alignment and D.C. electric repairs.
- Guides/supervises lower-level technicians in the repairs of trucks, Caterpillar and allied engines.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Must have a valid California Class “B” driver’s license, if assigned vehicle requires.
- Three to seven (3 to 7) years of experience in the repair of on-highway trucks and buses.
- Expertise in all phases of on-highway truck service operation.
- Full and positive knowledge of the Caterpillar product line and allied products.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or can provide verification of all formal classroom study or hands on experience related to equipment repairs.
- Furnish all hand tools required to repair, test and diagnose hydraulic, air, power train, electrical, and electronic systems on all makes of trucks and Caterpillar engines.
- NOTE: Some high dollar value tooling is supplied by Hawthorne Machinery Co.

- Hearing: Hears well enough to discern mechanical problems for safety in and around shop and construction sites and to receive communication via telecommunications and in person.
- Sitting: Sits in equipment and vehicles.
- Lying: Lies in prone position under vehicles and equipment.

- Make warranty recommendations and reports in representation of a CAT product.
- Measure and identify parts and components for reusability or replacement and ordering new parts as required.
- Perform minor welding and fabrication.
- This position requires work to be completed within 110% of any Flat Rate times that are established as targets by HPS.
- Rework must not exceed 0.5% of labor hours.
- Performs other duties as directed by foreman or service manager.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prefer to have one of the following:
- Successful completion of apprenticeship program.
- Graduation from an accredited technical school with emphasis on diesel engine.
- Two years of experience with hands on mechanical repair on diesel engine.
- Must have valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Shop Requirements: Valid California Class “C” driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Field Requirements: Valid California Class “B” driver’s license with a clean driving record, if assigned vehicle is required.
- Furnish all hand tools required to repair, test and diagnose hydraulic (truck), air (truck), power train (truck), electrical and electronic systems on Caterpillar equipment.
- NOTE: Some high dollar value tooling is supplied by Hawthorne.
