Apptronik is seeking a SimOps Engineer to architect and maintain the large-scale simulation infrastructure required for Apollo, our general-purpose humanoid robot. In this role, you will apply high-fidelity simulation rigor to humanoid robotics, managing the lifecycle of virtual environments used for locomotion, dexterous manipulation, and synthetic data collection. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Humanoid Simulation Frameworks: Architect and implement scalable, highly-available simulation frameworks. These should support high-fidelity humanoid dynamics, including complex joint interactions and balance controllers, while enabling domain randomization and synthetic data generation.
• HPC & Cloud Orchestration: Deploy and manage High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters (e.g., GCP, on-prem) to enable sub-24-hour turnaround for massive, ad-hoc simulation requests and parallelized training workloads.
• Metrics & Visualization: Establish robust observability and monitoring to provide insight into simulation health, utilization, and performance.
• Custom Tooling: Develop specialized tools and dashboards (e.g., using Python, Grafana, FastAPI, or Dash) to visualize complex simulation results that require custom interaction or specialized plotting.
• Automated Data Pipelines: Create automated pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) simulation data for large-scale training and performance benchmarking.
• CI/CD & Sim-in-the-loop Testing: Establish CI/CD pipelines for automated code generation and Simulation-in-the-Loop performance benchmarking to catch regressions early in the development cycle.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Robotics Simulation: Expertise in tools such as IsaacSim/IsaacLab, MuJoCo, Gazebo, Omniverse.
• Monitoring & Dashboards: Proficiency with tools like Grafana for infrastructure and telemetry visualization.
• High-Performance Computing: Demonstrated experience managing GPU-accelerated HPC clusters on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS/GCP) or on-prem systems.

JOB SUMMARY

Apptronik is seeking a Robotics Test Engineer to join the Software Integration & Test (RSIT) team. In this role, you will write the automated tests that verify Apollo's software at the integration layer, partner with senior engineers on defect investigations, and help grow the regression coverage that keeps each release safer than the last. You will work hands-on with our pytest-based test infrastructure, HIL benches, and the broader RSIT platform to turn software-level requirements into verifiable tests. This is a role designed for someone who wants to grow into deep expertise in robotics test engineering, with mentorship from senior teammates and meaningful ownership of test suites from day one.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Test Authoring: Write automated integration, contract, and ICD conformance tests in pytest against software-level requirements, with clear pass/fail signals that feed the release gate.
• Defect Investigation: Partner with senior engineers on root-cause investigations for CI failures, escaped defects, and stochastic issues, building familiarity with debugging tools (sanitizers, log analysis, MCAP playback) over time.
• Regression Coverage: Convert defects into permanent regression tests, ensuring every escape becomes a new automated check in the gate.
• HIL Test Execution: Run and maintain test suites on hardware-in-the-loop benches, capture data, and report results into the team's dashboards and result reporting systems.
• Test Suite Maintenance: Keep existing test suites healthy: triage flaky tests, update fixtures as the stack evolves, and improve readability and reliability of test code.
• Requirements Engagement: Read software-level requirements and Systems Validation plans, ask clarifying questions, and surface ambiguity or untestable language to senior teammates and Systems Engineering.
• Tooling Feedback: Serve as an active customer of the RSIT platform, surfacing friction in CI, dashboards, or release tooling so the Release & Integration team can improve developer experience.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with stack engineers, firmware engineers, and senior RSIT teammates to understand the systems being tested and produce verification that reflects how those systems actually behave.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Programming: Working proficiency in Python, including ability to write clean, maintainable test code and small utility scripts. Comfort reading C++ to understand the systems under test.
• Test Frameworks: Hands-on experience with pytest or an equivalent framework (unittest, Google Test, JUnit), including fixtures, parameterization, and test organization.
• Linux Comfort: Day-to-day fluency on the Linux command line, including basic systemd, log inspection, file system navigation, and shell scripting.
• Version Control: Solid Git fundamentals, including branching, pull requests, and code review participation.
• Debugging Mindset: Demonstrated curiosity and persistence in tracking down bugs, including willingness to read code in unfamiliar parts of the stack to understand a failure.

The Job

Required Skills & Experience:

The estimated total compensation range for this position is $160,000 - $185,000 (base plus bonus). Actual compensation for the position is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to affordability, skills, qualifications and experience, and may vary from the range. Position Overview 

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to design, build, and own the infrastructure powering the development of ACS’s autonomous counter-drone systems. You will manage a 130+ GPU bare-metal Kubernetes cluster, own our CI/CD pipelines, and ensure our systems run reliably in both lab and field environments. 

What You’ll Do 

• Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters on bare-metal infrastructure hosting 130+ NVIDIA GPUs, with hybrid burst capability to AWS for scalable compute and storage workloads.
• Manage NVIDIA GPU clusters for ML training.
• Own the full CI/CD pipeline from source to deployment, including artifact signing, build automation, and version pinning, ensuring repeatable delivery to cloud and edge targets.
• Build and maintain the observability stack, including log aggregation, metrics collection, alerting, and dashboards providing real-time visibility into cluster health and system performance. Collaborate with computer vision, robotics, and software engineering teams to build low-friction developer tooling that accelerates iteration on the ACS turret platform.
• Define and enforce infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform, Helm, or Ansible across on-prem and cloud deployments.
• Manage network configuration, storage provisioning, and security hardening for the bare-metal cluster in compliance with applicable defense security requirements. 

What You’ll Need 

• Skill at Python programming and Bash scripting
• 2+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, with hands-on experience in production Kubernetes environments.
• Deep expertise in bare-metal Kubernetes administration, including CNI configuration, storage backends, node management, and cluster upgrades.
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA GPU infrastructure, including CUDA, device plugins, GPU scheduling in Kubernetes, and KubeFlow or similar ML orchestration tooling.
• Strong CI/CD experience including Debian packaging, build automation, artifact management, and pipeline tooling (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent).
• Proficiency with observability tooling (e.g. ELK) for log aggregation, metrics, and alerting in distributed Linux environments.
• Experience building C++ and Python toolchains on Linux using CMake, with familiarity with cross-compilation for ARM targets such as NVIDIA Jetson.
• Strong Linux systems knowledge (Debian/Ubuntu preferred), including networking, storage, kernel tuning, and security hardening for production environments.

This is a full-time role based in Austin, TX as part of Sixth Street's growing technology team. We are building and evolving a cloud‑native platform that enables teams across the firm to build, ship, and operate secure, scalable software. We are a lean, high-impact team where everyone wears many hats. Core Responsibilities

• Platform Strategy: Drive cross-team platform initiatives; facilitate alignment, adoption, and migration plans across the Engineering organization.
• Self-Service & DevEx: Build and evolve self-service platform capabilities (e.g., “Golden Paths”) that reduce cognitive load and accelerate delivery via templates, libraries, and sample applications.
• Mentorship & Standards: Mentor engineers, analysts, and non-technical stakeholders with empathy. Set high-bar engineering standards for platform codebases and practice a disciplined approach to problem-solving (SOLID, DDD, etc.).
• Product Mindset: Treat the platform as a product with active involvement in our roadmap, feedback loops with developers, documentation, and iterative UX improvements.
• Observability & Telemetry: Refine and optimize the org-wide instrumentation "Golden Path" for metrics, logs, and traces. Enable teams through high-quality documentation, examples, and targeted one-on-one partnering.
• AI Enablement: Evolve our AI platform capabilities, including AI gateway services and governance patterns. Use AI tools to plan, develop, and validate solutions as a key member of one of the firm’s primary AI teams.
• Deployment & Standards: In collaboration with our developers, evolve the GitOps and CI/CD tooling strategy. Encourage "Golden Path" deployment patterns, secrets management best practices, configuration, and runtime standards.
• Strategic Partnerships: Maintain a close partnership with the Security and Cloud Infrastructure teams to ensure platform patterns are secure and resilient.
• Operational Excellence: Help define the future of our platform’s reliability. This is an area ripe for ownership—you will have the opportunity to shape our evolving SLO/SLI strategy, incident response patterns, and on-call expectations.

• 7+ years’ experience in professional software development. Degree in Computer Science or STEM field preferred.
