ELECTRON
Rocket Lab’s Electron team is responsible for building, testing, and launching our Electron rocket across our launch sites and test facilities in the United States and New Zealand. About the role
Based in Auckland, NZ, the Senior HITL Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and operating hardware in the loop (HITL) systems. You will support the Production, Electron, and Neutron organizations, with deliverables required from the business leadership team.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
- Work within a small team dedicated to designing, operating, and maintaining the avionic test systems to support all of Rocket Lab’s mission from the production floor to the launch operations.
- Ensure the HITL systems are subjected to an appropriate level of engineering rigor and documentation.
- Work with other teams to verify the functionality and performance of the Rocket Lab avionics components.
- Operate launch vehicle simulation platform for Day of Launch operations for specific missions.
- Work hands-on with test and flight space hardware.
- Make and maintain accurate technical documentation via system diagrams, schematics, ICDs, procedures, test/anomaly reports.
- Analyze test results from raw data for pass/fail criteria.
- Troubleshoot root cause from anomalies and communicate the results and path forward with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
- Operate and capture data from test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
- Prioritize, manage, and drive multiple projects at the same time.
- Work on the HITL standardization processes and automation.
- Provide technical expertise and training for the more junior HITL team members.
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electronics, computer science, aerospace engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of engineering experience with hardware or software development.
- Experience with designing and implementing electronics test systems.
- Experience writing rigorous test procedures.
- Meticulous with configuration management and documentation.
- Experience with designing and assembling test racks.
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- Master’s or PhD in mechatronics, electronics, computer science, aerospace engineering, or related field.
- Prior experience working on a HITL test, Avionics test, or Software test team.
- Ability to understand and create technical documentation via system diagrams, schematics, ICDs, procedures, test/anomaly reports.
- Prior experience participating to design and acceptance reviews.
- Theoretical and practical understanding of electronic systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and an aptitude for technical guidance and mentoring of junior engineers.

- Experience with computer networking: switching, routing and subnetting.
- Familiarity with CAD for test fixture and support equipment layout/design.

- Familiarity with Python, C++, C#, Linux, CI/CD, Git, NX and SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of spacecraft systems or similar highly complex and autonomous systems.

Flight software provides critical support to vehicle systems during launch and on orbit, operating launch vehicle and spacecraft avionics, collecting and distributing telemetry and commands, and hosting guidance, navigation and control software and algorithms. Flight Software Engineers are responsible for creation, maintenance, and support of software components, functions or services on the Electron launch vehicle, and associated ground-based communication systems.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
- Develop, maintain, and support flight software for the Electron launch vehicle and associated ground-based communication systems.
- Design and implement embedded software for launch vehicle and spacecraft avionics computers.
- Create and execute unit tests in response to bug-fix and feature requests.
- Develop and maintain documentation for the operation and deployment of software products.
- Participate in and approve code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Facilitate and contribute to software architecture meetings and approve architecture designs.
- Refine and prioritize product backlog items, ensuring clear definitions of ready and done.
- Lead and participate in scrum activities, including stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint planning.
- Manage and report on scrum activity metrics such as velocity and sprint retrospectives.
- Conduct trade studies and approve software requirements.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings and deliver training on software products.
- Deploy operational software to flight and ground systems.
- Support avionics simulations, including hardware-in-the-loop testing.

YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or demonstrated equivalent level of knowledge.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a software engineering related discipline.
- Proficiency in C++ (11 or above) development.
- Experience with source control systems such as Git.

TEAM LEAD - OPERATIONS SOFTWARE
As a Team Lead - Operations Software based at Rocket Lab’s site in Auckland, NZ, you will be leading a team of hard‑working and mission‑focused software engineers in supporting the development of tools that configure, command, and monitor launch vehicles (Electron, Neutron), spacecraft, and ground systems. You will collaborate closely with stakeholder groups across Rocket Lab to ensure the software we deliver is intuitive, fit for purpose, and enables efficient mission operations. To be successful in this role, you must be proactive, technically strong, highly organized, and skilled at guiding teams through complex, multi‑stakeholder environments. You’ll be responsible for setting the tone, driving productivity, and ensuring deadlines and targets are consistently met.

- Lead the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of software supporting testing and mission operations, including:
- HMIs for live command and control
- Operations configuration management
- Telemetry and command definition configuration management
- Create documentation for developers and end‑users on software products

SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER – OPERATIONS SOFTWARE

SPACE SYSTEMS
Rocket Lab’s Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defence sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.
YOUR MISSION:
Based at our Auckland Production Complex as a Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer, you’ll take ownership of spacecraft operations across a diverse and growing fleet - from LEO constellations to deep space exploration missions. You won’t just operate spacecraft - you’ll design how they’re operated, shaping automation, software, and mission success from concept to re-entry.
You’ll collaborate with world-class engineers across propulsion, flight software, GNC, and mission design - turning ambitious ideas into reality, fast.

Overview
We're looking to hire for our Data side of our AI team at Speechify. This role is responsible for all aspects of data collection to support our model training operations. We are able to build high-quality datasets at petabyte-scale and low cost through a tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research work. We are looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join us.
What You’ll Do
- Be scrappy to find new sources of audio data and bring it into our ingestion pipeline
- Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for our ingestion pipeline, currently running on GCP and managed with Terraform.
- Collaborate closely with our Scientists to shift the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer data at bigger scale and lower cost to power our next-generation models.
- Collaborate with others on the AI Team and Speechify Leadership to craft the AI Team’s dataset roadmap to power Speechify’s next-generation consumer and enterprise products.
An Ideal Candidate Should Have
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
- Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments
- Proficiency in Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and professional experience with at least one major Cloud Provider (we use GCP)
- Experience with web crawlers, large-scale data processing workflows is a plus
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
