We're looking for an experienced ML Ops Engineer to join the ML/AI team at Newsela. This team works on projects ranging from classical Machine Learning to AI / Generative pipelines.  This is a hands-on role. You'll work closely with ML/AI, data and site reliability engineers to take models from prototype to production, build robust data pipelines, and keep our services running smoothly as we continue to scale.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for ML model training, packaging, and deployment across our microservices.
• Manage containerized services on AWS ECS, optimizing for cost, latency, and availability.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and service configuration with Terraform.
• Work to maintain and scale services that make use of third party LLM providers.
• Build and improve data pipelines that feed models from BigQuery, S3, and DynamoDB into training and inference workflows.
• Instrument services with observability tooling (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Langfuse) and establish SLOs for model-serving endpoints.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to productionize new models using BentoML, FastAPI, and container-based serving.

About You:

• 2-3 years in ML Ops supporting ML/AI features, systems and workflows with 3-4 years prior experience in DevOps, CloudOps or SRE.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Hands-on experience with Docker containerization and container orchestration.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD for ML workflows in an enterprise production environment.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms — specifically AWS (ECS, ECR, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch) and GCP (BigQuery, Vertex AI).
• Experience with LLM integration and observability (OpenAI API, Google GenAI, Langfuse tracing).
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines for ML training and feature engineering
• Familiarity with ML modeling workflows — training, evaluation, experiment tracking (e.g. MLFlow, Weights & Biases), and model versioning
• Experience monitoring and flagging model drift over time.
• Exposure to NLP/NLU models and frameworks such as Hugging Face Transformers, spaCy, or sentence-transformers
• Knowledge of vector databases (LanceDB, FAISS) and embedding-based retrieval systems
• Experience with scaling and maintaining deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) in production settings
• Familiarity with classical ML libraries (scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM) and model explainability tools (SHAP)
• Working knowledge of ML serving frameworks such as BentoML or similar.
• Comfort working with FastAPI or similar async Python web frameworks.

We're looking for a AI Engineer to join AI & Data Team. The Senior AI Engineer will lead the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI solutions particularly those involving Large Language Models (LLMs), intelligent agents, and AI systems that integrate seamlessly into production-grade software. This person will work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating across teams to deliver intelligent, scalable, and reliable applications.

They will be responsible not only for crafting models and prototypes, but also for embedding these into robust applications, building APIs, writing clean code, and ensuring the operational success of AI-powered features in real-world environments.

The main objective of this role is to bridge AI innovation and software engineering excellence deploying LLMs, agents, and smart systems into full-stack products and production infrastructure.

What are the main responsibilities of this role? 

• Design and implement LLM-based solutions (e.g., RAG systems, multi-agent tools, copilots).
• Fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy open-source and proprietary foundation models.
• Build end-to-end AI-powered features in collaboration with product and engineering teams.
• Create scalable APIs and services to expose AI functionality to frontend/mobile clients.
• Own the lifecycle of AI features from experimentation to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for AI services.
• Implement observability, error tracking, and performance monitoring on deployed AI features.
• Evaluate and experiment with diverse AI frameworks and libraries (LangChain, Transformers, OpenAI SDKs, etc.).
• Lead technical discussions and mentor peers in AI best practices and architecture.
• Identify AI-driven product opportunities by working closely with clients or internal teams.

Which skills and experience do we envision for this role?

• +4 years of experience in AI/ML-focused roles with shipped software products.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, Mistral, open-source models) and agent frameworks (LangChain, AutoGPT, etc.).
• Proficiency in prompt engineering, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, etc.), and embedding strategies.
• Experience with testing AI systems using tools such as Promptfoo, Giskard, etc
• Solid Python skills, with experience building APIs using FastAPI, Django, or similar.
• Production experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and tools like Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes.
• Good software development practices: testing, code reviews, version control (Git), and modular design.
• Experience deploying and monitoring AI systems in production.
• Familiarity with MLOps and model deployment workflows is a plus.

Join GoFundMe as our next Staff Machine Learning Engineer (Pricing). In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy machine learning systems that power pricing and monetization programs across GoFundMe such as personalized donation and checkout experiences, donation yield optimization (one-time and recurring), recurring donor LTV optimization, fundraising goal suggestions, and more. This role requires strong end-to-end execution and deep expertise in building production ML systems (data → training → online inference → measurement) with rigorous experimentation and monitoring.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates considered for this role will be located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Job…

• Own end-to-end ML systems for pricing optimization, from problem framing and metric definition (e.g., donation yield, conversion, retention, LTV) to model development, launch, and iteration in production.
• Design and implement backend model pipelines including feature engineering, training, and evaluation.
• Build low-latency real-time inferencing services, including API design, caching strategies, model packaging, and deployment on Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with teams to develop instrumentation and event pipelines to capture user and campaign activity required for training and evaluation (e.g., impression/click/submit, donation amount, tip amount, recurring enrollment/cancellation), ensuring schema quality, lineage, and privacy-by-design.
• Apply causal and experimental methodologies to measure impact and avoid biased optimization, including online A/B testing design, guardrail metrics, sequential testing considerations, and counterfactual/causal approaches when needed.
• Develop optimization approaches appropriate for pricing-like problems, such as uplift modeling, bandits, constrained optimization, calibration, and multi-objective tradeoffs (e.g., yield vs. donor trust, short-term conversion vs. long-term retention).
• Establish ML operational excellence by implementing model observability (latency, errors, drift, calibration, business KPI deltas), automated retraining triggers, rollback strategies, and incident response playbooks for pricing systems.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Design, and Legal/Privacy stakeholders to translate business goals into measurable technical deliverables and ship safely.
• Mentor and set technical direction for other engineers and scientists through design reviews, architecture decisions, and shared best practices for production ML in monetization.
• Employ a diverse set of tools and platforms, including Python, AWS, Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, FastAPI, Terraform, Snowflake, and GitHub, to develop, deploy, and maintain scalable and robust machine learning systems. (Full-stack experience—e.g., integrating with web clients and experimentation frameworks—is a plus.)

• 7+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping production machine learning systems, with demonstrated ownership of backend services and ML pipelines in a high-availability environment.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries/frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, plus strong software engineering fundamentals (testing, code review, CI/CD, API design, performance, and reliability).
• Demonstrated experience in pricing/monetization or growth optimization domains preferred.
• Experience designing and deploying real-time model serving (sub-100ms to low-hundreds ms latency targets), including containerization, scalable inference, feature retrieval, and safe rollout strategies (canaries, shadowing, backward-compatible schema evolution).
• Strong data engineering fluency: building reliable datasets and features using SQL, Spark/Databricks, and warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake), with an understanding of event semantics, identity resolution, and data quality controls.
• Working knowledge of experiment design and causal measurement for monetization systems, including pitfalls such as selection bias, interference, and delayed outcomes; familiarity with uplift modeling, bandits, or constrained optimization is a strong plus.
• Experience implementing ML monitoring for both technical and business metrics (drift, calibration, segment performance, latency, error budgets) and operating models in production.
• Ability to break down ambiguous, high-impact problems, define crisp interfaces and success metrics, and deliver iteratively with strong stakeholder communication.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills and a proven ability to raise the bar on architecture, engineering quality, and operational rigor for ML-powered pricing systems.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Sense of humor is optional but appreciated.
