The role:
ALS Metallurgy is seeking a motivated and organized Warehouse Officer to join our team in Balcatta.

This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Site Manager. You will be responsible for managing sample storage and warehouse operations, ensuring samples are safely handled, stored and dispatched in accordance with client and company requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage sample storage, including submissions, retrievals, packaging, location allocation, disposal and return-to-client requirements.

  • Operate gas, electric or reach-truck forklifts to safely load and unload pallets and samples.

  • Package and repackage samples, ensuring they are correctly labelled, secured and prepared for storage or dispatch.

  • Accurately enter and maintain data in SIM/LIMS, EMS and Excel systems.

  • Conduct sample inventories and ensure records are accurate and up to date.

  • Liaise with Metallurgy staff regarding sample storage requirements.

  • Communicate professionally with clients when required, including preparing quotations and monthly invoices for storage, disposal and return-to-client services.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised warehouse environment.

  • Manage daily activities efficiently to ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately and on time.

The essentials

Successful candidates will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • A current forklift licence (gas and/or electric), with reach truck experience highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated experience in a warehouse, logistics or sample handling environment.

  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling and labour-intensive tasks, including the packaging and repackaging of samples.

  • Strong data-entry skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Experience using inventory or laboratory management systems, such as SIM or EMS, as well as Microsoft Excel, will be highly regarded.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal teams and external clients.

  • Experience preparing quotations and invoices is desirable.

  • A commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and well-organized workplace.

  • An understanding of, and commitment to, HSEQ management systems and ALS policies and procedures.

  • Alignment with the ALS Code of Conduct and a commitment to fostering a Culture of Quality.

  • A self-motivated, proactive and team-oriented approach.
