About The Role:
A Warehouse Group Leader (or Team Lead) acts as a frontline supervisor, overseeing daily operations, staff, and workflows to ensure accurate, safe, and timely receiving, storage, and shipping of goods. They bridge the gap between management and warehouse staff, handling, training, inventory control, and troubleshooting operational issues, often working on the floor alongside their team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing 6S program (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) and compliance with OSHA and company policies.
Operational Leadership: Direct daily warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, picking, packing, and inventory control.
Team Supervision & Training: Assign tasks, train new hires, and coach staff on warehouse management systems (WMS), safety protocols, and company procedures.
Inventory & Accuracy: Audit inbound/outbound shipments and perform cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
Workflow Optimization: Monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and adjust staffing or workflows to meet productivity goals and deadlines.
Problem Resolution: Investigate discrepancies in shipping/receiving, equipment malfunctions, and customer issues.
Qualifications:
Experience: Generally 3-5 years of warehouse experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and software such as Excel, and Outlook.
Equipment Proficiency: Capability to operate warehouse machinery, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or reach trucks.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, management, and other departments.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods, walk for 10,000+ steps per day, and frequently lift up to 30 lbs or more.
Working Environment: Fast-paced, high-volume environment (200k+ sq. ft.). May involve working in extreme temperatures (hot/cold). Often 8-10 hour shifts or similar schedules during peak season.
