Job Summary
Responsible for researching materials and methods, developing training programs, updating or modifying existing courses, establishing a curriculum, overseeing employee instruction and various administrative duties, such as scheduling classes and organizing enrollment. This role will regularly facilitate training in various modalities (virtual, in-person, etc.) offered through the Organizational Development and Learning department (OD&L) as well other programs offered through Memorial Hermann University - including New Employee Orientation (Culture Day), New Leader Orientation (JumpStart), Leadership Development curriculums (LEAD program), Consumer Experience (The MH Experience), technical trainings and other educational programs. This position reports to the Director of OD&L.The Training & Development Specialist supports the development and delivery of engaging learning experiences for employees across all levels of the organization. In this role, you will facilitate instructor-led training, coordinate training logistics and resources, and partner with leaders, subject matter experts, and learning team members to identify training needs and performance gaps. You will also assist with developing and updating training materials, job aids, and online learning content; manage attendance, evaluations, and feedback through the Learning Management System (LMS); and help evaluate the effectiveness of training programs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys facilitating, working collaboratively, managing multiple priorities, and creating positive learning experiences that support employee growth and performance.

Desired Skill Set
DDI (Development Dimensions International) Certified Facilitator strongly preferred, with experience facilitating DDI training courses
Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with experience delivering employee development programs to frontline employees through leadership
Experience coordinating training programs and managing training logistics, resources, and multiple priorities
Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably Cornerstone OnDemand
Experience with training needs assessment, content development, and evaluation, including training materials, job aids, and online learning content
Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization; healthcare experience is a plus
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred, or 5+ years of equivalent work experience
Licenses/Certifications: N/A
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience, coordinating and delivering employee development programs for all levels of employees
Excellent presentation skills to clearly convey complex blends of business and technical matters to a range of audiences, to articulate points clearly and concisely
Open to commuting between sites as needed (with mileage reimbursement)
Hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (Cornerstone OnDemand or other)
Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities
Strong attention to detail and problem resolution skills
Ability to function effectively in a highly collaborative team environment
Capability to interact with individuals at all levels within an organization.
Experience in a healthcare environment a plus
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Facilitate (solo or co-facilitation) training to various audiences (frontline employees to leadership) ensuring engagement and positive training outcomes.
Prepare training locations by ensuring instructors have all of the tools, technical equipment, materials and resources needed (catering orders) to effectively teach a course
Assist in assessing training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, or consultations with managers or instructors
Collaborate with Training Specialists and Instructional Designers, as well as various stakeholders across the Health System to conduct needs analysis to identify knowledge gaps and opportunities to enhance performance through additional training interventions.
Assist in the design and creation of training content and materials, including guides, manuals, job aids, etc.
Work with Instructional Designer, Subject Matter Expert, and/or leaders to develop content for online training that will lead to improved performance.
Collect training evaluations and assist in evaluating training content and facilitation
Utilize Learning Management System (LMS) to track and report attendance as well as obtain training feedback.
Spearhead regular content review of existing training modules with internal partners
Perform administrative duties, such as monitoring costs, managing enrollment, scheduling class times and locations in the Learning Management System (LMS), printing training materials, and sending invitation information.
