Temporary Business Development Representative (BDR or equivalent experience) – Milady
Position Overview
Milady is hiring a motivated Temporary Business Development Representative (BDR) to assist our sales team in finding new customer opportunities. The role primarily centers on our ExamReady solution.
This role involves contacting prospective clients through outbound calls and emails. You will present Milady solutions and set up qualified demonstrations with the sales team.

What You'll Do
- Carry out proactive outbound communication with potential customers through phone and email.
- Connect with beauty and wellness education customers and present the benefits of Milady's ExamReady solution.
- Identify customer interest and needs and generate qualified opportunities for the sales team.
- Clearly convey the benefits of connecting with a Milady sales representative and joining an ExamReady demonstration.
- Schedule qualified demo appointments for assigned sales representatives.
- Follow up with customers as appropriate to help drive strong appointment attendance.
- Maintain accurate records of customer outreach, conversations, and scheduled appointments.
- Partner closely with sales representatives to ensure a smooth handoff and positive customer experience.
- Meet established weekly activity and appointment goals.
How Success Will Be Measured
Success in this role goes beyond just arranging meetings. We seek meaningful customer interaction that leads to customers participating in their planned demonstrations

Key performance measures will include:
- Outbound prospecting activity
- Scheduled qualified appointments
- Customer attendance at scheduled appointments
- Consistent achievement of weekly appointment goals
The goal for this position is to schedule a set number of qualified appointments per week and assist up to five sales representatives.
What We're Looking For
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence and integrity when speaking with customers by phone.
- Ability to quickly build rapport and communicate value.
- Comfortable conducting a high volume of outbound customer outreach.
- Goal-oriented and motivated by measurable results.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple customer conversations and priorities.
- Positive, persistent, and comfortable hearing "no" while continuing to pursue opportunities.
- Experience in sales, customer service, business development, appointment setting, or lead generation is preferred but not required.
- Interest in the beauty, wellness, or education industries is a plus.
Position Details
- Employment type: Temporary, direct Cengage employee
- Compensation: $20-23 per hour
- Incentive opportunity: $10 for every qualified appointment that leads to the customer participating in the scheduled demonstration
- Incentives are calculated and paid monthly.
- Appointments where the customer does not attend are not eligible for the incentive.

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.
