Why we're hiring:
The Technology Risk & Controls TechOps Senior Specialist operates as part of the second line Technology Risk & Controls function, working under the direction of the Technology Risk & Controls Lead. The TechOps Senior Specialist provides deep technical subject matter expertise across Technology Operations environments, including infrastructure, cloud platforms, databases, and identity tooling. This role delivers independent assurance over complex technical control environments, ensuring control design and operation are robust, scalable, and aligned to regulatory and audit expectations.
What you'll be doing:
Key Accountabilities
Technical SME
- Act as SME across infrastructure and platform controls, including:
- Cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, Azure)
- Operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows)
- Databases (e.g. SQL and related technologies)
- Identity & access management (e.g. Okta, PAM tooling such as BeyondTrust)
- Assess design and effectiveness of technical controls (access, patching, logging, monitoring, resilience)
Controls Assurance
- Lead assurance over Technology Operations control environments
- Review complex architectures and translate them into control risks and required controls
- Ensure controls are implemented in a scalable and audit-compliant manner
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams
- Provide clear, pragmatic guidance on control expectations within technical environments
- Challenge technical teams where control risks are not adequately mitigated
Risk & Decision Making
- Evaluate technical risks and provide clear recommendations on remediation or acceptance
- Support prioritisation of remediation activities based on risk and business impact
Audit & External Engagement
- Act as SME for technical audits (internal and external, including SOX)
- Support complex audit queries relating to infrastructure and cloud controls
Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvement in technical control maturity across platforms
- Support standardisation of TechOps control frameworks and patterns
What you'll need:
- Strong technical background in infrastructure and cloud environments
- Hands-on knowledge of GCP, Linux, Windows, SQL, IAM tooling (Okta, BeyondTrust etc.)
- Deep understanding of ITGCs within technical environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to bridge technical and controls/audit requirements
