We are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent to join our team in Poti, Georgia. This is an exciting opportunity for a marine engineering professional to take ownership of the technical management of our fleet and play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient vessel operations.

About the Role

As Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for the technical management and operational readiness of the vessels within your assigned port. Working closely with the Port Manager, Technical Manager, vessel crews, and external service providers, you will oversee planned maintenance, repairs, dry dockings, statutory surveys, and technical projects to maximize vessel availability while ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical management of vessels within your assigned port.

  • Ensure vessels are maintained in a safe, compliant, and operationally ready condition.

  • Provide technical expertise and engineering support to port operations.

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise preventive maintenance, repairs, dry dockings, and vessel modifications.

  • Manage maintenance and dry docking budgets while maintaining effective cost control.

  • Monitor expenditure on repairs, spare parts, fuel, and lubricants in line with approved budgets.

  • Ensure the effective implementation and continuous use of the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).

  • Coordinate the procurement of spare parts, equipment, and consumables through SERTICA.

  • Manage statutory surveys, class inspections, certifications, and regulatory compliance activities.

  • Support the commissioning and integration of new vessels into the fleet.

  • Coordinate technical responses following vessel incidents, including investigations, repair planning, and insurance or claims documentation.

  • Coach and support onboard engineers, promoting technical excellence and continuous development.

  • Champion Svitzer's commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.

  • Keep the Port Manager, Technical Manager, and Cluster Managing Director informed of significant technical matters affecting fleet performance.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications & Experience

  • Class 1 Motor Unlimited Certificate of Competency or an equivalent marine engineering qualification.

  • Experience as a Technical Superintendent, Port Engineer, Chief Engineer, or in a similar technical management role.

  • Strong marine engineering background with experience managing vessel maintenance and technical operations.

  • Sound knowledge of classification society requirements, statutory regulations, and marine safety standards.

  • Experience managing technical maintenance budgets and cost control.

  • Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS); experience with SERTICA is an advantage.

  • Strong IT proficiency.

  • Excellent written and spoken Georgian and English.
