As a Technical Service Engineer, you'll be the technical backbone behind the quality and success of Lunar installations. You'll provide remote support to our channel partners and Field Service Engineers, serve as a subject-matter expert on Lunar products, and help monitor the fleet to proactively address site issues.

This role is based primarily at our Mountain View HQ, with some local and national travel required.

Lunar Energy was founded to transition homes to 100% clean energy—making our electricity greener, our air cleaner and our energy more safe, secure and reliable for all. We’re a fast-growing, global company building the world’s best clean energy products to electrify all homes and connect communities to form clean, resilient virtual power plants.

On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…

  • Provide remote support (phone, live-chat, email) to installation partners and Field Service Engineers, and help coordinate which sites need in-person visits.
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on installing and troubleshooting all Lunar products, performing root-cause analysis both remotely and on-site.
  • Assess and approve field RMAs; own escalations end-to-end, following up with customers and internal teams (e.g., Tier 3 tickets) through resolution.
  • Monitor alerts through the Lunar System Alerting dashboard to proactively identify site issues and update the installing company of any site visits required
  • Analyze telemetry and key metrics to flag common installer errors and recommend training, design, or hardware/software improvements.

Desired Skills:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on technical field experience.
  • 5+ years designing and installing residential solar, battery, and/or EV charging systems.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a driving background check.
  • Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred; solid knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes.
  • Ability to read single-line drawings, permit packages, and technical specs for PV and ESS systems (EVSE a plus).
  • Comfortable interpreting device telemetry and spotting anomalies in large data sets.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex electrical issues; familiarity with interconnection and AHJ processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office/G-Suite.
  • Flexible schedule (including occasional weekends/holidays) and willingness to travel, primarily within your local region.

Benefits:

We’re dedicated to creating a remarkable employee experience. At Lunar, competitive base pay is one part of our total compensation package. Lunar employees also have the opportunity to become Lunar shareholders by getting equity in a fast-growing company and participating in our employee stock program.

Additional benefits include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents
  • Flexible Paid Time Off plus 10 paid holidays
  • Tax deferred 401(k) plan
  • Paid parental leave for all full time employees including 12 weeks paid parental leave for the birthing mother and 6 weeks paid parental leave for the non-birthing parent
  • Subsidized EV charging and pre-tax commuter benefits
