About this Team Leader Risk & Fraud role at SumUp
Team description:
SumUp's Risk & Fraud Operations team sits at the heart of protecting millions of small businesses and consumers who rely on our financial products every day. As we scale our Consumer offering across Europe, the demands on our Transaction Monitoring function are growing — and so is the need for sharp, close-to-the-ground leadership that keeps the team performing, compliant, and motivated.
This is a newly created Team Lead role, built to bring the right level of focus and support to a team of around 10 Transaction Monitoring specialists. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the team, driving performance against key metrics, and identifying opportunities to improve how we work — from process efficiency to automation. If you're someone who leads with empathy, cares about quality, and wants to make a real difference in a regulated, fast-moving environment, this role is for you.
What you'll do:
-
Lead, coach, and develop a team of ~10 Transaction Monitoring analysts, supporting their performance, growth, and day-to-day work
-
Monitor team KPIs and take action on gaps — including fraud detection rates, case resolution times, SLA adherence, and customer impact metrics
-
Review complex cases and guide the team on resolution approaches, ensuring regulatory deadlines are consistently met
-
Identify and drive process and automation improvements within Transaction Monitoring, working closely with cross-functional teams to move initiatives forward
-
Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, and team check-ins to build engagement, reduce attrition, and support career development
You'll be great for this role if…
-
Experience working in Transaction Monitoring, fraud operations, or a related financial services or banking environment, with a solid understanding of how monitoring works across different product domains.
-
A track record of leading or supervising a team in an operations or customer-facing setting, with the ability to coach and develop people at different stages of their careers.
-
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data, spot trends, and take action quickly.
-
Comfort working with tools such as CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce), payment platforms, and reporting tools used for team performance management.
-
A leadership style that's grounded, empathetic, and pragmatic — someone who leads by example and brings people along with them.
