Role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Architect with deep expertise in Cloud Security Architecture, Security Solution Design, and Security Control Assessments. The successful candidate will provide security architecture leadership across strategic technology initiatives, ensuring solutions are designed, implemented, and governed in accordance with enterprise security requirements, risk appetite, and regulatory obligations. The role requires a highly experienced practitioner capable of balancing security, risk, business objectives, delivery timelines, and technology modernisation initiatives. The individual will act as a trusted advisor and provide thought leadership across cloud transformation, platform security, SaaS adoption, AI services, and emerging technologies.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead security architecture engagements across cloud, application, infrastructure, AI and platform transformation initiatives.

• Produce and review Security Control Assessments (SCAs), threat assessments, security solution designs and architecture artefacts.

• Evaluate proposed solutions against enterprise security policies, standards, control frameworks and regulatory obligations.

• Define security architecture patterns, guardrails and reference architectures for cloud environments.

• Perform security reviews throughout project lifecycles from concept through to production deployment.

• Analyse business, technical and non-standard solution flows to identify threats, vulnerabilities and security gaps.

• Support risk acceptance and exception processes through the provision of security recommendations and compensating controls.

• Provide architecture governance and challenge where security risks exceed organisational risk appetite.

• Partner with Engineering and DevOps teams to embed security-by-design principles into cloud platforms and delivery pipelines.

• Contribute to architectural review forums and governance committees.

• Develop reusable patterns, templates, standards and cloud security reference architectures.

• Mentor and uplift junior security architects and engineers.

Experience Required:

• 15+ years of experience in Cyber Security, Technology Architecture or Security Engineering.

• Minimum 2+ years of Security Architecture experience.

• Proven experience in Cloud Security Architecture within large enterprise environments.

• Demonstrated experience leading security assessments for cloud migration and transformation programmes.

• Experience engaging senior stakeholders and influencing architectural decisions.

• Experience performing risk assessments, architecture reviews and security governance activities.

• Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience within banking, financial services or highly regulated industries highly desirable.

Good to Have Certifications

• SABSA Foundation / Practitioner / Chartered SABSA

• CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
