Structural Engineering Technician

Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We continue to build on our successes in the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi and local authority bridge management space. We're responsible for a range of assets across the wider Northland region, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and river protection structures.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineering Technician to join our Whangārei Civil Structures team and support the delivery of a diverse range of infrastructure projects, including:

  • New bridge and structural asset improvement projects

  • Life-extending strengthening and remediation works

  • Upgrades of existing structures to meet higher loadings

  • Resilience improvements and climate adaptation projects

  • Repairs following vehicle impacts and severe weather events

  • General Civil and structural engineering support across the wider Whangārei team

In this role, you'll help deliver projects through construction monitoring, contract administration, procurement support, asset inspections, and technical documentation. You'll work alongside experienced bridge and structural engineers, contractors and clients to deliver practical solutions that improve the resilience, safety and performance of Northland's transport infrastructure.

A strong commitment to health, safety and risk management will be essential as you support project delivery across active construction sites and critical infrastructure assets. While being based in Whangārei, you'll have access to a truly multidisciplinary business where you can draw on leading technical specialists and subject matter experts from across Beca.

You'll also have excellent opportunities to develop your technical, project delivery and consulting skills while building your career in structural engineering.

Aligned with the level of the role, we envision that the base salary component will be between NZ$70,000 - $90,000 depending on skills and experience. The role is full-time and permanent, with minimum guaranteed hours of 40 hours per week.
