Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM-3:00 AM | Occasional Saturdays
Starting Pay: From $21.00/hour + 10% Shift Differential (Higher starting pay available based on experience)
Position Overview
We are hiring a skilled Steel Fabrication & Structural Assembly Technician to support production in a structural steel manufacturing environment. This role requires experience fitting and assembling structural steel components, interpreting fabrication drawings, and using a variety of shop equipment to prepare materials for welding and final assembly.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, layout details, and weld symbols.
Fit and assemble structural steel components, including beams, columns, stairs, handrails, and miscellaneous metal products.
Measure, mark, cut, and position materials according to production specifications.
Prepare assemblies by fitting, tacking, and aligning components before welding.
Operate fabrication equipment, including:
- Ironworkers
- Magnetic drills (Mag Drills)
- Band saws
- Grinders
- Oxy-fuel torches
- Plasma cutting equipment
- Additional fabrication tools as needed
- Inspect layouts, dimensions, alignment, and fit-up to ensure quality standards are met.
- Safely move materials using overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and other material handling devices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area while meeting production goals.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in structural steel fitting or fabrication preferred.
Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
Experience with structural layout, measuring, fitting, and assembly techniques.
Familiarity with fabrication tools, precision measuring equipment, and shop machinery.
Comfortable working with heavy steel materials and standing throughout the shift.
Experience using overhead cranes and rigging equipment is a plus.
Strong attention to quality, safety, and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in a structural steel fabrication environment.
Ability to produce clean, high-quality FCAW welds on structural steel.
Experience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
