Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our high‑impact Engineering organization in Mexicali, a recognized center of excellence for structural analysis and product development. This team plays a critical role in designing and validating some of the most complex and safety‑critical components in aviation, including nacelles, thrust reversers (TR), inlets, engine build‑up (EBU) systems, and fan cowls for commercial and business jets. As one of the few organizations in the world with end‑to‑end expertise in these specialized systems, our Mexicali facility is known for its technical rigor, innovation, and ability to solve challenging engineering problems that directly influence aircraft performance, safety, and reliability. Here you’ll collaborate with world‑class engineers, leverage advanced tools and best‑practice design standards, and contribute to products that exemplify precision, quality, and aerospace leadership.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the resolution of complex technical problems by performing root cause analysis, evaluating alternatives, and implementing effective engineering solutions.
  • Review and validate engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, design requirements, customer specifications, and company procedures.
  • Manage medium-scale engineering projects, coordinating activities, priorities, schedules, resources, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support Operations and Manufacturing Processes to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Responsible for RCCA activities to investigate and solve technical and quality issues. Support and recommend corrective and preventive actions to address internal and external quality concerns.
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering oversight to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to design best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and process optimization throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Travel up to 20%

Must Have Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience
  • 5 years of professional experience in product design and development.
  • Proven experience creating and modifying 3D models and assemblies for structures using CATIA V5 (modules – Part Design and Product Design).
  • Proficiency with PLM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven ability to clearly and effectively communicate and present technical information in English, both verbally and in writing

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics, or aerospace engineering strongly preferred.
  • Experience with composite structures and proficiency with the CATIA CPD workbench is a plus.
  • Understanding of materials and their properties to ensure the designs meet safety and performance standards.
  • Preferred PLM systems experience – (Enovia, Teamcenter, or similar tools.)
  • MS Office Suite proficiency including Power BI and SharePoint
  • Creativity to develop innovative solutions and optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and efficiency.
