Software Engineer II

Job Overview
Support software engineering through programming, testing, implementation, documenting, and delivery of software solutions. Research alternative technical solutions for changing business needs, including leveraging AI-assisted development tools and intelligent agents to improve productivity and code quality.

Major Accountabilities
• Responsible for programming, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance, and support of systems application software in adherence with Mastercard standards, processes, and best practices.
• Develop high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions using Java, Springboot, Cloud services,Kafka, Postgtres, Caasandra, JCL, Cobol, DB2, Vsam and related backend technologies, based on technical requirements specifications and design artifacts, within expected time and budget.
• Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., code suggestions, refactoring, test generation) to improve development efficiency and software quality.
• Assist in the development and integration of AI-enabled components or agents (such as automation workflows, rule-based or ML-assisted services, or intelligent system interactions) under guidance.
• Research, create, and evaluate technical solution alternatives, including AI-based and automation-driven approaches, to address evolving business needs.
• Create system, AI prompt/configuration, and testing documentation per department standards.
• Follow development, testing, and AI-usage standards to ensure compliance with audit, security, and responsible AI requirements.
• Follow Mastercard Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes.
• Support collection and reporting of project, software, and AI productivity metrics.
• Actively look for opportunities to enhance coding standards, introduce automation, and improve overall process efficiency using AI where appropriate.

Knowledge / Experience
• Basic understanding of Software Engineering concepts, methodologies, and object-oriented programming ( Java, Springboot, Cloud services, Kafka, Postgtres, Caasandra preferred, JCL, Cobol, DB2, Vsam ).
• Foundational exposure to AI concepts, such as AI-assisted development tools, APIs, agents, or automation frameworks, is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in the software engineering field.
