Purpose

Deliver high quality software and technical solutions in an agile environment to meet internal Sysco business partner and end customer requirements. Works across the full technology stack and demonstrates a flexible mindset and passion for programming. In this hands-on role, the Software Engineer works closely with Principal Software Engineers, Business Analysts, business stakeholders, and Project Managers to understand requirements, develop technical designs, and implement and test solutions that comply with business requirements and technical standards. The Software Engineer also provides development support for production systems and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for existing systems and platforms.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, business users, project managers, and customers to deliver solutions that meet business expectations.

  • Work closely with other software engineers to elevate technology practices and consistently apply development standards and best practices.

  • Adhere to architecture standards and software development best practices, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), code reviews, static code analysis, and secure coding practices.

  • Write technical user stories and ensure non-functional requirements are met, including performance, scalability, resilience, and maintainability.

  • Proactively resolve defects and manage technical debt.

  • Develop and execute unit tests to ensure customer and business requirements are successfully delivered.

  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to support team progress and remove impediments.

  • Collaborate with team members across the full software delivery lifecycle, including design, development, quality assurance, deployment, and production support.

  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and development practices.

  • Apply software development methodologies within an agile environment.

  • Work safely with minimal environmental impact and report all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to a Supervisor.

  • Recognize and support personal and team safety by identifying and communicating workplace hazards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • College diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of IT experience.

  • Experience with:

    • AS400 technologies, including RPG, CL, DB2, ILE, and SQL; or

    • Relational and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Amazon Aurora.

  • Experience working with open-source frameworks and technologies.

  • Experience using version control systems appropriate to the technology stack (e.g., Git).

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

  • Experience with additional programming languages or scripting technologies is an asset.

  • Experience configuring and administering application servers is preferred.

  • Experience in a distribution or supply chain environment is preferred.

  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to learn quickly, and capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Dans ce rôle pratique, l’ingénieur logiciel collabore étroitement avec des ingénieurs logiciels principaux, des analystes d’affaires, des parties prenantes de l’entreprise et des chefs de projet afin de comprendre les exigences, élaborer des conceptions techniques, puis mettre en œuvre et tester des solutions conformes aux exigences d’affaires et aux normes techniques. L’ingénieur logiciel assure également le soutien au développement des systèmes et applications en production.


Responsabilités

  • Assurer la maintenance continue, le soutien et l’amélioration des systèmes et plateformes existants.

  • Collaborer avec les ingénieurs logiciels, les utilisateurs d’affaires, les chefs de projet et les clients afin de fournir des solutions répondant aux attentes de l’entreprise.

  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les autres ingénieurs logiciels afin de faire progresser les pratiques technologiques et d’appliquer de façon constante les normes de développement et les meilleures pratiques.

  • Respecter les normes d’architecture et les meilleures pratiques de développement logiciel, notamment le développement piloté par les tests (TDD), les révisions de code, l’analyse statique du code et les pratiques de codage sécuritaire.

  • Rédiger des récits utilisateurs techniques et veiller au respect des exigences non fonctionnelles, notamment en matière de performance, d’évolutivité, de résilience et de maintenabilité.

  • Résoudre de façon proactive les anomalies et gérer la dette technique.

  • Développer et exécuter des tests unitaires afin de garantir la livraison des exigences d’affaires et des clients.

  • Participer à la planification des sprints, aux réunions quotidiennes, aux revues de sprint et aux rétrospectives afin de soutenir l’avancement de l’équipe et d’éliminer les obstacles.

  • Collaborer avec les membres de l’équipe tout au long du cycle de livraison logicielle, y compris la conception, le développement, l’assurance qualité, le déploiement et le soutien à la production.

  • Formuler des recommandations visant l’amélioration continue des systèmes, des processus et des pratiques de développement.

  • Appliquer les méthodologies de développement logiciel dans un environnement agile.

  • Travailler de façon sécuritaire tout en minimisant l’impact environnemental et signaler immédiatement à son superviseur tout danger, incident ou déversement environnemental.

  • Contribuer à sa propre sécurité ainsi qu’à celle de ses collègues en identifiant et en signalant les dangers présents dans le milieu de travail.

  • Baccalauréat en informatique, en technologies de l’information, en génie logiciel ou dans un domaine connexe, un atout.

Expérience

  • Minimum de cinq (5) années d’expérience en technologies de l’information.

  • Expérience avec :

    • Les technologies AS400, notamment RPG, CL, DB2, ILE et SQL; ou

    • Les bases de données relationnelles et NoSQL telles que MongoDB et Amazon Aurora.

  • Expérience de travail avec des cadres applicatifs (frameworks) et des technologies à code source ouvert.

  • Expérience de l’utilisation de systèmes de gestion de versions adaptés à la pile technologique (p. ex., Git).

  • Expérience du développement piloté par les tests (TDD).
