Shape the future of eBay’s developer platforms.

eBay’s Infrastructure Engineering organization is expanding in Bangalore, and we’re looking for a Software Development Manager to build and lead a Platform Engineering team.

This team builds the frameworks, developer platforms, and automation that enable thousands of eBay engineers to build, deploy, and operate applications at scale. As the manager, you’ll grow the Bangalore team, provide technical leadership, and partner closely with our teams in the US and Shanghai to deliver secure, reliable, and easy-to-use platform capabilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Platform Engineering team in Bangalore.

  • Define and execute the roadmap for Java developer platforms, frameworks, and CI/CD capabilities.

  • Provide technical leadership across architecture and design of scalable, reliable, and secure platform services.

  • Drive platform development using Java, Spring Boot, Maven, Kubernetes, Tekton, Kafka, and cloud-native technologies.

  • Champion end-to-end ownership—teams build, test, deploy, operate, and support what they develop.

  • Improve developer productivity through reusable frameworks, self-service capabilities, automation, and simplified developer workflows.

  • Partner with engineering teams in the US, Shanghai, and India to align technical strategy, architecture, and execution.

  • Establish a culture of engineering excellence, operational ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams and delivering large-scale platforms or distributed systems.

  • Strong technical foundation in Java, Spring Boot, Maven, REST services, and microservices architecture.

  • Experience building developer platforms, reusable frameworks, CI/CD platforms, or infrastructure tooling, rather than only application microservices.

  • Experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, automation, observability, and CI/CD; Tekton and Kafka experience is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of the complete software lifecycle, including automated testing, deployment, production operations, reliability, and support.

  • A developer-first mindset with experience improving developer experience and engineering productivity.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with experience working across globally distributed teams.

This is a rare opportunity to build a high-impact engineering team from the ground up, work with cutting-edge technologies, and help shape the next generation of eBay’s developer experience — powering products used by millions of customers worldwide.
