What's the role?

The Senior Specialist – Electrical is responsible for providing technical expertise to support the operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of ocean-bottom node (OBN), source, streamer systems and automation systems used in PxGeo’s marine seismic acquisition activities. The role ensures that electrical and electronic systems are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational performance while supporting both offshore and onshore technical functions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of node, source, streamer and automation electrical systems.
  • Support the design, evaluation, integration, and commissioning of new equipment, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Investigate technical issues and equipment failures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor equipment performance and reliability, identifying opportunities for operational improvement and risk reduction.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs for seismic acquisition systems and associated electrical equipment.
  • Perform failure analysis and reliability assessments to improve equipment availability and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure electrical systems are tested, calibrated, and maintained in accordance with operational and manufacturer requirements.
  • Provide engineering support during mobilizations, demobilizations, vessel operations, and offshore survey activities as required.
  • Assist operational teams in resolving complex electrical and electronic faults affecting acquisition systems.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, vessel personnel, equipment manufacturers, and service providers to address technical issues.
  • Support equipment readiness activities and participate in system acceptance testing and sea trials.
  • Identify and implement initiatives that enhance system performance, efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to engineering projects related to equipment modernization, standardization, and lifecycle management.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements applicable to PxGeo’s node and streamer operations.
  • Support the development and updating of technical procedures, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Maintain accurate technical records and documentation related to maintenance and technical activities.

Who are we looking for?

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Several years of experience in marine seismic acquisition, offshore energy, or similarly complex technical/industrial environment.
  • Experience with OBN, or towed marine geophysical equipment is highly advantageous.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, electronic, and control systems used in marine seismic acquisition.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical/electronic faults efficiently, including root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures.
  • Proficiency in developing, reviewing, and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with preventive and corrective maintenance methodologies, calibration standards, and manufacturer testing requirements.
  • Working knowledge of relevant industry, electrical safety, and marine/offshore regulatory standards
  • Strong discipline in maintaining accurate technical records, procedures, and work instructions.
