The Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten. We are a cross-functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across four countries: Japan, Singapore, India and China.

Responsibilities:

• Write, extend, and maintain automated test plans and scripts.

• Design, execute, and automate tests for backend (and sometimes frontend) applications across a variety of architectures and cutting-edge technologies.

• Architect automation frameworks, define automation strategies, and develop automated tests to validate use-cases per product specifications and requirements, ensuring stability and ease of maintenance.

• Ensure comprehensive test coverage by working closely with engineering and product teams to prioritize testing execution and report on test execution progress and results.

• Participate in design and specification reviews, and use this information to design test plans.

• Assist cross-functional teams in troubleshooting and problem identification.

• Champion QA best practices across the organization and contribute to continuous improvement of the QA process.

• Stay current with emerging technologies, particularly in the AI and agentic systems space, and apply this knowledge to testing strategies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 6 to 9 years of working experience in web application testing and automation.

• Solid programming fundamentals with strong object-oriented concepts; proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, or Java.

• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks; experience with Selenium or Cucumber is a plus.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or JavaScript.

• Hands-on experience with at least one public cloud environment: GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• Exposure to API testing using tools such as Postman or equivalent.

• Understanding of AI and agentic systems, including familiarity with how AI workflows and autonomous agents are tested and validated.

• Good knowledge of Networking and Operating System concepts.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong understanding of QA practices, methodologies, and approaches.

• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.

• Ability to write test plans and test strategy documents.

• Ability to understand functional and technical specifications and analyze data samples effectively.
