The role
We are looking for a PHP Engineer to join the Ferryhopper team in Athens.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for integrating and maintaining 3rd-party data providers and ferry operators into the Ferryhopper booking platform. We are actively looking to fill 2 positions.
Responsibilities:
- Integrate APIs of different data providers and ferry operators into Ferryhopper
- Bridge the business logic of 3rd-party APIs with that of Ferryhopper
- Optimize existing integrations for performance, scalability, and reliability
- Investigate and resolve integration and production issues
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing
- Use AI tools to improve development, investigation, and day-to-day productivity
- Stay up to date with relevant technologies and apply them when they can improve our work
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in web application development (open-source or freelancing experience counts)
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles and best practices
- Strong programming skills in PHP 8.x+
- Working experience with Symfony or Laravel
- Experience using AI tools for code generation and development assistance
- Good experience with Git and issue-tracking tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code
- Ability to take ownership of technical issues and drive them to completion
It would be a plus
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerization
- Familiarity with testing suites and CI/CD tools
- Hands-on experience with unit testing in PHP (PHPUnit, Codeception)
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Good understanding of SOAP services
- Familiarity with Amazon AWS
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB)
