About this Senior NetSuite Functional Consultant role at Datacom

Datacom · Onsite · Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand

About Us

At Datacom, we combine technology, expertise, and talented people to help organisations thrive in a rapidly changing world. As one of Australasia's leading technology providers, we work with customers across industries to solve real-world problems and deliver meaningful outcomes.

Whether we're supporting governments, enterprise organisations, or growing businesses, we're committed to creating meaningful outcomes for our customers, communities, and each other.

About the Role

Datacom's ERP ecosystem is designed to simplify and automate internal business processes while providing a single source of truth that enables reliable, data-driven decision making across the organisation. Our ERP platform gives greater visibility of operations across the business and provides common tools that enable our people to focus on delivering value to our customers.

At the core of the solution are three enterprise platforms:

  • NetSuite
  • SuiteProjects Pro (OpenAir)
  • Salesforce

Working as part of our ERP Support and Delivery team, the Senior NetSuite Functional Consultant will provide expert knowledge and leadership to support the ongoing evolution of Datacom's enterprise systems landscape. You will work directly with business stakeholders to understand, document and validate requirements, map business processes to NetSuite functionality, and design pragmatic solutions that support operational and financial processes across the organisation.

This role combines business analysis, solution design, stakeholder engagement, system configuration, project delivery and continuous improvement. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced consultant who enjoys solving complex business challenges and influencing positive change across a large enterprise environment.

Please note that only citizens and residents of New Zealand will be considered.

What You Will Do

  • Analyse and deliver business process improvement initiatives, either leading medium-sized initiatives or managing key workstreams within larger projects.
  • Facilitate workshops and engage with business stakeholders to gather, document and validate requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into functional solution designs and NetSuite configurations.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify process improvements and recommend best-practice ERP solutions.
  • Prepare solution design documentation, business requirements, fit-gap assessments, and process maps.
  • Work collaboratively with technical teams to deliver integrations, customisations and enhancements.
  • Support project delivery activities including design, configuration, testing, deployment and hypercare.
  • Review and contribute to test strategies, test cases and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior consultants and process analysts.
  • Support ongoing migration, optimisation and transformation initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and subject matter expert within the ERP team.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help drive adoption of delivered solutions.

What You Will Bring

As a Senior NetSuite Functional Consultant, you will possess a strong understanding of ERP platforms and business processes, enabling you to identify gaps between current and desired states and deliver practical, business-focused solutions. You'll have experience working across both business and technology teams and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Essential Requirements

  • Accounting background (qualified accountant or significant finance systems experience) OR Functional Consultant, Business Systems Consultant, or similar ERP consulting background combined with experience working with NetSuite ERP for 5+ years is a must!
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and build trusted relationships with senior business leaders and process owners.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, requirements gathering, process analysis and solution design sessions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
  • Experience delivering ERP projects, system enhancements and business process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of core finance processes across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Fixed Assets, with a clear understanding of how these functions operate within an integrated ERP environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of Project Management and Professional Services Automation processes and related platforms (SuiteProjects Pro or others).
  • Knowledge of Inventory, Warehouse Management, Revenue Recognition processes and related ERP functionality.
  • Experience with system integrations and enterprise application ecosystems.
  • Experience using Visio or similar process mapping and documentation tools.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence and other delivery management tools.
  • NetSuite certifications or equivalent ERP certification(s).
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
