Role Summary
As Rowan's Business Development organization scales to support significantly increased deal volume, this role will lead the build-out of the execution infrastructure behind that growth. BD-OS is a pillar within BD alongside Customer Development and Commercial Strategy & Negotiation focused on program management, CRM and customer planning systems, market and customer insight, and cross-functional coordination across live deals and broader BD initiatives.
The Senior Director will lead and grow the BD-OS group, taking Rowan's existing tools and processes and evolving them improving and, where needed, designing and standing up the systems, reporting, and operating rhythm that give BD and its stakeholders clear visibility into deal and customer status. This role carries central responsibility for customer-facing planning and reporting: tracking account status, progress, next steps, and strategic plans across Rowan's key relationships, and for how BD's progress is communicated to senior leadership, capital partners, and the board.
This role owns Rowan's ongoing customer and market intelligence effort gathering the insight that informs site selection, pricing (including market comps), and competitive analysis, so that Rowan's solutions and positioning are grounded in a clear view of the market rather than internal assumption alone
The accuracy and timeliness of this group's projections carry real financial weight: BD's forecasts and deal-status reporting directly inform Rowan's decisions on at-risk project investment and long lead equipment (LLE) commitments. Getting this visibility right and getting it early is central to how Rowan manages capital exposure ahead of signed leases
Innovation and creative problem-solving are core to this role. Rowan is scaling faster than its systems, and this leader is expected to find new ways not just apply existing ones to create real visibility into deal and customer status at every level of the organization, from individual deal teams up through the board
The role involves a meaningful degree of direct customer engagement. BD-OS exists to enable Rowan's success with hyperscale and AI customers, and that requires this leader to build real fluency and credibility with those customers directly, not solely through internal reporting
This resource is expected to lead a small but growing team, including a director level BD-OS hire already in place, and to shape how the group scales as deal volume increases
Travel: Ability to travel up to 25%-50% for company gatherings or to project sites.
Location: Denver, CO (3-day hybrid in-office role)/ Open to remote opportunities for exceptional candidates
Compensation: $249K - $312K (Offers Bonus & Other Variables)
Essential Responsibilities
Working closely with peers across BD's other pillars and the team you build within BD-OS, you will own:
Team leadership: Building, leading, and developing the BD-OS team, including existing Director-level talent, as the group's scope and headcount grow determining how each team member's work fits into the function's broader priorities
Deal program management: Workback schedules and timeline discipline on live deals, in support of both Commercial Strategy & Negotiation and Customer Development
CRM & customer planning: The systems used to track customer status, progress, next steps, and account strategy ensuring the organization has an accurate, current view of every key relationship
Customer & market insight: Gathering and synthesizing customer and market intelligence including market comps, pricing benchmarks, and competitive analysis to directly inform site selection, pricing strategy, and Rowan's broader solutions and positioning
Investment-critical forecasting: Projections and status reporting on deal timing and probability that directly inform Rowan's decisions on at-risk project investment and long lead equipment commitments requiring rigor and discipline given the capital exposure involved
Visibility & systems innovation: The trackers, dashboards, and repeatable processes that create real visibility into deal and customer status at every level from deal teams to the board with a bias toward inventing better approaches rather than defaulting to what already exists
Cross-functional coordination: Alignment with Legal, Energy, Sites, and Capital Markets on deal-critical inputs pricing, technical feasibility, yield so deals move efficiently through to execution
Direct customer engagement: A meaningful degree of direct interaction with hyperscale and AI customers, ensuring BD-OS's systems and support are grounded in real customer context, not just internal process
Leadership & board reporting: Strategic, synthesized reporting for senior leadership and capital partners, including materials supporting approval requests, and a central voice in how BD's progress is communicated at the executive level
Process design: Function-wide improvements to BD's operating rhythm and structure that scale with the business as volume grows

Comfort owning forecasts and reporting that carry real financial consequence this role's output shapes decisions on capital at risk ahead of signed leases

Comfort with direct, ongoing customer engagement, not solely internally facing work
Experience managing people, including developing and growing talent within a function still taking shape
