About this Senior Design Engineer (Outdoor) role at Carrier
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Outdoor Unit) to support new product development (NPD) for air conditioner products, with a focus on structural design, cost optimization, and component sourcing.
This role plays a key part in ensuring design competitiveness, cost efficiency, and product reliability, while supporting mass production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop structural components for air conditioner outdoor units
Create and maintain 2D and 3D drawings using SolidWorks
Develop and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) for production
Conduct cost analysis and drive cost reduction initiatives for components and materials
Identify and source alternative components, materials, and processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency
Ensure designs meet customer requirements and international standards
Perform testing and validation to ensure structural performance and reliability
Troubleshoot and resolve design and performance-related issues
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
3-5 years of experience in air conditioner or HVAC product design
Strong experience in structural design and product development
Experience in cost analysis, BOM management, or cost reduction initiatives
Proficient in 2D/3D design tools (SolidWorks)
Good understanding of manufacturing processes and material selection
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork skills
Good command of English
