 Overview
The Durst Organization is seeking (9) Security Officer II - at our Midtown Security Command Center. 

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to a Senior Security Manager, the Security Officer II – Command Center Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating the property’s security and life-safety systems from the Command Center. The position serves as a central point of communication during routine operations, emergencies, and security incidents and is responsible for promptly identifying, documenting, and communicating alarms, incidents, and other conditions requiring attention.

Shift: Various (7:00AM-3:00PM / 3:00PM-11:00PM / 11:00PM-7:00AM)

Days Off: Various

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Monitor CCTV, access control, fire/life-safety, intrusion, intercom, and other security systems.
  •  Manage security and life-safety alarms in accordance with established procedures
  •  Dispatch Security Officers, building personnel, emergency responders, and other appropriate resources, as needed or directed by executive staff.
  • Monitor building conditions and security activity and promptly escalate unusual or emergency situations to the Command Center Supervisor and appropriate management personnel.
  • Maintain continuous communication with field personnel and provide operational support during incidents and emergencies.
  • Monitor and control access to designated areas through security and access-control systems.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and incident reports documenting significant events, alarms, and responses.
  • Review and preserve surveillance footage and other security information as directed.
  • Operate Command Center equipment and systems in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with emergency response, evacuation, and other life-safety procedures within the portfolio.
  • Conduct routine system checks and report equipment malfunctions or deficiencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of security systems, building information, surveillance footage, and other sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Command Center Supervisor or executive staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior security, command center, dispatch, or emergency operations experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, observation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies.
  • Proficiency with computer-based security, surveillance, access control, and life-safety systems.
  • Ability to accurately document incidents and communicate information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be available to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  •  Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers including but not limited to:
    •  Current New York State Security Guard License required
    • Current AED/CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Working knowledge of camera surveillance, access control and building systems
  •  Must have a technical aptitude and willingness to learn how to perform security x-ray and screening procedure and use required equipment
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and comply with regulations, correspondence as well as complete forms andvreports as required;
  • Should have prior knowledge of or willing to learn security related software applications
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned account.
  • Possess good oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong customer service and service delivery orientation.
  • Ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to take initiative and achieve results.
  • Ability to carry out multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and escalate discrepancies for resolution.
