Objective:

Working as Scientist in OEM business Technology team, to develop and maintain cost-effective, high-quality products for our customers which can be manufactured efficiently in Operations by understanding our formulating practices, customer specifications and test methods, working with Operations to transfer products smoothly into production and following our quality procedures to ensure continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop/Optimize recipes following APQP process. Apply statistical analysis to solve problems and trouble shoots within established procedures. Know, recommend, and/or utilize various testing methodologies and demonstrate ability to develop or scale-up new products. Interpret and analyze results, make suggestions on path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow.
  • Recipes are also to be developed to be cost effective, meeting our customers’ requirements while using low-cost materials. Able to use DOE to propose sets of experiments. Propose new product ideas based on effective solutions.
  • Keep test specifications and test methods up to date, develop new specifications and methods as required. Aim to minimize the amount of testing needed to meet our customers’ requirements.
  • Understand customer specifications and plan technical experiments. Lead or take active role in problem solving of customer issues using appropriate methodology, e.g. 8D.
  • Attend line trials of new product launches at customer sites.
  • Effectively communicates work progress/research results by giving internal presentations at project team meetings
  • Work with operation team and other function to ensure new/modified product alignment (scale up)  into production. Understand the process overview. Understand the operation procedure.
  • Work with application team to develop application line simulation parameters to ensure that line trials and product introductions are right first time.
  • When relevant, a scientist is responsible for finding suitable rework routes to support non-productive inventory reduction with product quality control.
  • Analyze and document results, prepare technical reports, examinations and summaries. Ensure all project documentation is completed properly and in full and available for any internal or external quality audits.
  • Understand specific hazards on safety, health, environment related to the process. Knowledgeable of safety regulations and company standards.
  • Safety practices related to work tasks.

  

Key Job Requirements:

  • 2 years coating experience or above, ideally with OEM/Commercial Vehicle/Industry/Refinish coating development experience.
  • B.S. in Chemistry related or above, or equivalent coating research / development experience.
  • Project management and problem-solving skill. Demonstrated ability to leverage experience of internal networks to solve problems.
  • Executes routine tasks and experiments, able to contribute to technical discussions.
  • Develops experience and familiarization with a broad range of methods, practices and programs.
  • Good computer skills including office, database, and statistics.
  • Good verbal and written of English Preferred, 
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration capability.
