About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Sales Manager to join our team in Vado Ligure. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving commercial growth, strengthening customer relationships, developing new business opportunities, and leading a high-performing sales team.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding our landside business activities, developing value-creating solutions for customers, and contributing to the long-term growth strategy of the terminal.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Commercial Growth

  • Develop and execute sales strategies that drive profitable growth and support the terminal's commercial objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities, develop landside service offerings, and expand existing customer relationships.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and pipeline management to negotiation and contract closure.
  • Deliver sales targets and implement go-to-market initiatives that strengthen the terminal's market position.

Build Strategic Customer Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Understand customer needs and develop tailored solutions that create long-term value.
  • Lead customer reviews, performance discussions, and business development initiatives to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Commercial Performance Management

  • Monitor sales performance, pipeline health, profitability, and commercial KPIs.
  • Manage forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and opportunity reviews to support business growth.
  • Provide commercial insights and support the Global Commercial Operating System with accurate data and analysis.

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Sales Executive while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and adherence to APM Terminals' values and standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance commercial processes, customer experience, operational efficiency, and business results.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance commercial processes, customer experience, operational efficiency, and overall business performance.

Who We Are Looking For

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Sales, Business Development, Commercial Management, or Key Account Management.
  • Strong knowledge of the Shipping, Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain industry.
  • Demonstrated success in driving commercial growth and achieving ambitious sales targets.
  • Experience managing strategic customer relationships and leading complex negotiations.
  • Previous people leadership experience is an advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of autonomy, resilience, and accountability.
  • Fluent in Italian and English.
