About this Resource Manager (Advisor level) - 12 month FTC role at Linklaters

Linklaters · Onsite · London

Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.

Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

The Role:

Ready to play a pivotal role at the heart of one of the firm's largest and most dynamic practice groups?

We're looking for an experienced Resource Manager to join our London Mainstream Corporate (MSC) team, where you'll act as a trusted adviser to Partners and senior business leaders, helping shape how legal talent is deployed to deliver exceptional client service, strong financial performance and sustainable growth. This role is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is far more than a traditional resource management role. You'll combine commercial insight, strategic workforce planning and stakeholder influence to ensure the right people are working on the right matters at the right time. Working closely with Work Allocation Partners, the Practice COO, HR and senior lawyers, you'll have a direct impact on utilisation, profitability, talent development and long-term workforce strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading resource planning and allocation across the London MSC practice
  • Acting as the primary adviser to leadership on capacity, utilisation and workforce strategy
  • Providing forward-looking insight on pipeline, demand and resourcing requirements
  • Supporting headcount planning and talent deployment decisions
  • Driving data-led decision making through reporting, analysis and workforce intelligence
  • Identifying innovative resourcing solutions, including flexible talent models, legal technology and AI-enabled approaches
  • Championing fair, balanced and inclusive allocation practices
  • Managing and developing junior members of the Resource Management team
  • Partnering closely with HR to support wellbeing, development, performance and career progression across the practice

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly visible function where you'll influence senior stakeholders, shape strategic decisions and help build a high-performing, future-focused workforce.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking a commercially minded resource management professional who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment and is confident operating at senior stakeholder level. You'll be equally comfortable analysing workforce data, influencing Partners and navigating sensitive people matters with discretion and emotional intelligence.

You'll bring:

  • Proven resource management experience within a professional services, legal or similarly complex environment
  • Previous people management experience and a track record of developing others
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how resource decisions impact profitability, utilisation and business performance
  • The credibility and confidence to challenge, advise and influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into meaningful business insight
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach
  • Sound judgement when managing sensitive, confidential or people-related matters
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion, fairness and equitable allocation practices
  • An appreciation of how legal practices operate and the commercial drivers behind client work

If you're looking for a role that combines strategic thinking, commercial impact, stakeholder influence and people leadership, this is an opportunity to make a real difference in a market-leading practice.

What's on offer:

This role is based in London office, with a hybrid working model.

Joining Team Linklaters will see you qualify for a range of benefits designed to reward the vital contribution you'll be making to our success. These include:
