The Product Excellence department’s purpose is to provide the company with product definition and support by providing technical services, including defining the product into the nVision engineering system, technical documentation, interpretation of specifications, building codes, and company policy, and technical support services and product application criteria for internal and external customers.

The Product Excellence Manager designs and manages product definition. The Manager works with customers, management, suppliers, and other employees to identify superior products and define them for proper economical design, structural detailing, and proper form, fit, and function in compliance with applicable current building codes, specifications, and industry practices.

The Product Excellence Manager is responsible for product design, details, and procedure documentation as well as clear communication of product introduction and changes to applicable departments.  They also obtain acceptance of those products that require outside testing and code agency approvals.

Job Duties

  • Manage design, testing, development, and/or modification of company products and their definition into the engineering system to meet economic, code compliance, certification compliance, and quality requirements.
  • Hire and manage Engineers and Product Specialists and schedule for efficient production of work.
  • Ensure timely and accurate response to product or procedural inquiries from management and customers.
  • Ensure proper and timely communication of product requirements and developed procedures with affected managers and employees.
  • Represent the company’s interests and assure company compliance with technical organizations’ requirements including MBMA, AISC, AISI, AWS, CWB, and others.

Education & Experience Qualifications  

Minimum:       

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
  • Registered Professional Engineer (at least one US State)
  • 15 years of industry experience
  • Knowledge of codes and standards
  • Basic knowledge of product, professional, and business legal liabilities
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Working knowledge of Vision and interdependencies with other software and functions

Preferred:       

  • Advanced degree
  • Engineering registration in at least one Canadian Province
