Job Description:

The Project Manager is responsible for successfully managing division-wide, cross-departmental projects involving changes to business processes, selection of software solutions, Advancement software/system implementations, and other major initiatives and events. The project manager position is responsible for leading the line-of-business staff, technical staff, and user communities through a variety of division-wide projects. This role focuses on breaking down organizational silos and refining business processes to maximize efficiency and ensure front-line staff can seamlessly engage constituents. 

Reporting to the Director of Advancement Enterprise Solutions in the Advancement Information Systems department, the Project Manager acts as the central point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, proactive risk management, and alignment with division-wide goals. This role manages Advancement projects using current project management approaches.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A minimum of 3 years of project management experience or within a related field, such as business operations or information technology, preferably in higher education or a similar industry.

Job Competencies

  • A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management principles and methodologies, and successful implementation of complex projects. Experience using project management and tracking software.

  • Superior interpersonal skills with proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner, exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrating tact, poise, and diplomacy while working with a wide variety of personalities. Demonstrated active listening skills.

  • Demonstrated professional, customer-service oriented, and positive attitude.

  • Ability to work efficiently at all levels of the organization and influence others to progress toward a shared vision or goal, with excellent facilitation and collaboration skills. Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, root-cause identification skills, and demonstrated ability to interpret data and use it to inform business decisions.

  • Ability to balance attention to detail while maintaining focus on the big picture.

  • Ability to read, create, interpret, and understand flowcharts, requirements, specifications, user guides, and sequences of operation.

  • Working knowledge of software and the related infrastructure in a production environment, including computer operating systems, databases, networks, security, interfaces, and troubleshooting techniques preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire general knowledge of a project’s subject area.

  • Ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours as project needs dictate.
