About this Project Manager and Designer - Industrial Color Extended role at CoCreativ
The Designer & Project Manager, Store Design is a mid-level, dual-expertise role partnering with our client, a luxury beauty company within their US Store Design team. This role is positioned at the intersection of design execution and rigorous project management, this role drives the end-to-end delivery of retail environments across freestanding flagships, department store counters, and open-sell shop-in-shops. Working directly with the Director of Store Design, you will bring 5+ years of experience, you will translate creative concepts into physical realities maintaining brand elevation, structural precision, and seamless operational delivery across multi-brand initiatives.
This role is focused on the technical development and quality oversight of store projects, requiring a candidate who can produce high-quality AutoCAD and SketchUp rendering documentation and manage millwork quality standards through rigorous weekly coordination.
You will collaborate with and align cross-functional teams, including visual merchandise partners, brand managers, vendors, retailers and senior stakeholders, across simultaneous initiatives, acting as the connective tissue between creative vision and execution reality. Your design sensibility is central to how you communicate with design leads, evaluate creative output, and ensure that brand intent is preserved throughout every phase of delivery.
Beyond day-to-day project management, you will bring expertise in optimizing workflows, managing vendor ecosystems, while fostering a collaborative environment that consistently drives exceptional design outcomes.
This role is operating in a hybrid capacity with several days per week onsite at our client in midtown Manhattan.
Accountabilities:
- Project Leadership & Execution: Own end-to-end delivery of multi-stream store design programs, managing project timelines, CAPEX budgets, vendor quotes, and execution schedules from initial concept through in-store opening.
- Executive Portfolio Reporting: Maintain a consolidated, real-time status dashboard across designated brand portfolios to provide strategic visibility for team leadership (VP/AVP).
- Technical Drafting & Detailing: Produce and update detailed AutoCAD construction sets, including custom fixture details, electrical/power plans, and floor/wall tiling layouts compliant with brand guidelines and landlord building codes.
- Millwork & Quality Oversight: Review, annotate, and redline millwork shop drawings for structural integrity, material accuracy, and technical integration during weekly vendor review cycles.
- 3D Visualization & Presentations: Leverage SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Photoshop) to produce spatial concepts, high-impact presentation decks, program recaps, and executive status updates.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary operational liaison between internal creative teams, brand managers, finance, external general contractors, millworkers, and retail partners.
- Vendor Ecosystem Management: Build and optimize vendor relationships with fabricators, suppliers, and contractors to resolve technical challenges proactively while protecting design intent.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Architecture, Interior Design, or a related creative field
5+ years of experience in design and project management, with a focus on multi-stream design programs in fast-paced environments
Demonstrated design expertise: strong command of retail design principles, brand rollout, and prototyping; ability to evaluate and guide creative output
Proven track record managing large-scale design programs for high-profile clients
Strong ability to partner with and align cross-functional teams across simultaneous initiatives and projects
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and AutoCAD; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organized, solutions-oriented, and adaptable, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and adjust to pressing timelines in dynamic environments
Experience in a US retail or luxury brand environment strongly preferred
Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience, and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
