Workplace Platform team

The Workplace Platform Team act as a key technology partner for Microsoft 365 collaboration capabilities, productivity platforms, governance, adoption and secure digital solutions across the organisation:

• Lead and support Microsoft 365 collaboration, productivity, automation and employee experience use cases.
• Partner with IT product owners and platform teams to ensure standards are followed across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Copilot, security, compliance and collaboration platforms.
• Support innovation, adoption and governance across Microsoft 365, Power Platform and Copilot capabilities.
• Maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, IT architecture, security, service operations, vendors and Microsoft 365 delivery teams.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of IT - Workplace, you will provide hands-on architecture leadership for employee productivity and knowledge experience across Microsoft 365 and workplace services. The role will shape the design, governance, integration, adoption and support model for core productivity capabilities including Microsoft 365 Apps, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Viva, enterprise search, content lifecycle management and archiving, alongside Azure Virtual Desktop where it supports modern workplace access and productivity scenarios.

The successful candidate will be a senior technical specialist who can work with business stakeholders, architects, engineers and service teams to translate business requirements into secure, scalable and supportable Microsoft 365 solutions. The role requires strong depth across Microsoft 365 Apps, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Viva, Teams, Exchange Online, enterprise search and knowledge discovery, content lifecycle and archiving, Power Platform, Copilot/Copilot Studio, Purview, Defender and Entra ID, with a practical understanding of AVD integration and operational considerations.

About you

• 12+ years of experience across Microsoft 365, digital workplace, collaboration platforms, application architecture or enterprise IT solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 Apps, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, Viva and Microsoft 365 administration, including service configuration, governance, adoption and Power Platform Admin Centre concepts.
• Experience designing employee productivity and knowledge experience capabilities, including intranet and knowledge portals, information architecture, search relevance, content ownership models, lifecycle controls and archiving patterns.
• Practical understanding of Azure Virtual Desktop architecture, user experience, profile management, application delivery and integration with identity, endpoint, network and Microsoft 365 productivity services.
• Experience designing Power Platform solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Dataverse, including environment strategy and DLP governance.
• Good understanding of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, knowledge grounding, permissions implications and AI governance considerations.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Purview, information protection, sensitivity labels, retention, audit, eDiscovery, data loss prevention controls, records management and compliant content archiving.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, identity and access management, conditional access, MFA, app registrations and service principal governance.
• Ability to design secure, scalable and supportable solutions, documenting HLD/LLD, operational runbooks and decision records.
• Strong scripting and automation capability using PowerShell, PnP PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API.
• Experience working with globally distributed teams, external vendors, security, architecture, product and application delivery teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications / certifications

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert or equivalent Microsoft 365 architecture/administration experience.
• Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert or equivalent Power Platform solution design experience.
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, Teams Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent experience with AVD, endpoint and workplace access services is beneficial.
• Microsoft certifications or equivalent experience in Information Protection, Compliance Administration, SharePoint administration, Viva, enterprise search or content lifecycle management are beneficial.
• TOGAF, ITIL, Agile delivery or product management certification is beneficial.
