About this Product & Operations Lead, RFP Proposal Writer Product & Services role at Starbridge
About Starbridge
We're building the front door for how businesses partner with government in America.
Public agencies spend roughly a trillion dollars a year with private companies, and nearly all of it still moves through infrastructure that hasn't changed in decades. Starbridge is building the full operating system for that relationship: the data, the signals, the workflows, and the rails that let a company find a public buyer, win the work, and get paid.
We monitor 320,000+ public sector entities around the clock. 500+ customers have joined us since our launch in March. We've raised $50M from Craft and top investors including Michael Seibel of Y Combinator.
About the role
Our customers see a deal coming months before the RFP drops. Then it drops, they have three weeks to write 200 pages, and they lose to whoever wrote it better.
Our RFP proposal writer is live today with an ambitious roadmap in front of it. You inherit it on day one.
Now we're building the other half. Some customers don't want a tool, they want the response written. RFP Services is a done for you offering that writes the bid, then pulls the evaluators' scoring sheets back through public records requests so the next one is sharper.
Two mandates, one flywheel. The product makes writing a response fast. The service makes us the ones writing them, and everything we learn writing them makes the product better than anyone can build from the outside.
You own both. You start by doing the work yourself, then build the team that takes it over.
What You’ll Own
The product. The RFP proposal writer: roadmap, requirements, users. Ship the next chapter with engineering and design.
The service, as the doer. It launches the week you start and you are it. Real customers across K-12, higher ed, cities, counties, and states.
The service, as the builder. Recruit, train, and manage a remote freelance writing bench. Own the QA that holds quality as volume grows.
The number. Pricing, packaging, margin, and the services revenue line.
Demand. Build the outbound motion and sell it alongside our AEs and into our customer base.
The feedback loop. Every response you write is product research. Turn it into specs, templates, and tooling that make a two week response a two day one.
Your first 90 days
You'll be building the plane as you fly it. That's deliberate, not a gap in the plan.
Weeks 1-2: Inherit the roadmap. Close your first paid engagements. Start writing.
Weeks 3-6: Ten live responses shipped. Pricing and packaging set. First freelance writers hired.
Weeks 7-12: Bench running at volume with you on quality control, not first drafts. Outbound live and building pipeline. First scoring sheets back. A full year plan for product and services.
Qualifications
1-4 years in product at a fast growing company, or at a top consulting/finance firm or equivalent
A strong academic record
Exceptional writing. This job is writing before it is anything else
Real comfort doing the work yourself before you delegate it, and real appetite for building the team that takes it over
High agency. Nobody hands you a plan here. You write it
Commercial instinct: revenue, margin, win rate
Interest in the space. Public procurement is arcane, unglamorous, and enormous
Bonus if you have:
Proposal, RFP, or grant writing experience; public sector exposure; experience managing contractors or a freelance team; a habit of automating your own work with AI.
