Wilhelmsen Ship Services is looking for a Port Service Engineer.

The port service engineer will sell and promote Wilhelmsen Ships Service Network, products, services and concepts in a professional way in ports and terminals and to satisfy the immediate needs of our customers in the port, always making the customers aware of ongoing campaigns and providing technical support, chemical tests and product demonstrations, as required or identified as necessary.


Who you will report to:

The Port Service Engineer reports to the Port Service Manager –works closely together with the rest of the team to promote Wilhelmsen Ships Service.

What you will be doing:  

PSE Main responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and services onboard customer vessels related to WSS product portfolio and service offer

  • Assist and train vessel crew in the use of WSS products

  • Complete and issue relevant documentation after every visit/service on board in relevant applications and tools, and according to processes and guidelines

  • Continuously promoting WSS products and services to current and potential customers by use of campaigns or other material and tools

  • Initiate and maintain continuous contact with Ports, Terminals, Dry Docks Repair Yards and Ship’s Agents to identify opportunities and obtain information concerning Charterers, vessel arrival times, names of the Captain, Superintendents and other senior members of the crew, to communicate with them before or on arrival and provide them first class service to ensure that any order or enquiries will be given to WSS and not to an alternative local supplier

  • Ensure that the customers experience the port service interaction as professional, valuable and pleasant

  • Obtain customer feedback concerning any matters affecting customer satisfaction, included reporting of any customer complaint if necessary

What you need to be successful in this role: 

  • Tertiary / Degree in a technical/engineering field (mechanical, engineering, maritime)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the marine industry

  • High intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn

  • Good Physical Condition 

  • Very good command of the English language (spoken and written) 

  • Computer literate 

  • Ability to communicate effectively within a multinational environment 

  • Ability to manage and motivate own and externally employed service personnel 

  • Ability to work under pressure 

  • Ability to work on own initiative 

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team 

  • Ability to co-operate across organization lines internally and towards customers 

  • Systematic and accurate nature 

  • Service oriented and safety minded approach
