Role Summary
As a People Analytics Principal, you will independently lead complex people analytics work, from data modelling and visualization to workforce planning and data science, providing insights that directly influence talent and organizational strategy. You will engage senior Talent and business stakeholders, translating data into clear recommendations that improve talent outcomes and workforce decisions. Responsibilities:
Business intelligence
- Support the business intelligence needs of specific management, governance processes, or operational areas.
- Investigate the need for business intelligence reporting and analysis where there is some complexity and ambiguity.
- Apply non-standard business intelligence tools and techniques proficiently to provide insights and aid decision-making.
- Independently select, acquire, and integrate data for analysis, ensuring data quality and relevance.
Data modelling and design
- Utilize standard data modelling and design techniques to address moderate complexity requirements.
- Establish, modify, and maintain data structures and associated components.
- Communicate details of data structures and associated components effectively to stakeholders.
Data visualization
- Independently design and create various types of data visuals using visualization products.
- Select appropriate visualization techniques from a range of options for diverse data sets.
- Engage extensively with target users to prototype and refine specified visualizations.
Measurement and reporting
- Contribute to the identification and prioritization of measures, scales, and targets for projects, functions, or teams.
- Support the development of measurement methods and assist in specifying base and derived measures to meet agreed information needs.
- Collaborate with teams to design reports and reporting formats, ensuring clarity and relevance.
Data science
- Apply established data science techniques to solve problems and analyze datasets, utilizing programming skills effectively.
- Participate in evaluating the outcomes and performance of data science models, providing input on improvements.
- Support the training and enhancement of models and the data they utilize, under supervision.
Workforce planning
- Gather, maintain, and analyze workforce capability data to support workforce planning initiatives.
- Conduct detailed gap analysis to identify discrepancies between existing workforce capabilities and future business needs.
Stakeholder engagement and decision support
- Engage with Talent and business teams to present data insights and ensure alignment of analytics with stakeholder needs.
- Independently apply data insights to recommend improvements to Talent processes and workforce management strategies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how people analytics supports broader business objectives, contributing to talent initiatives that drive performance.
Requirements
Must-have skills (required)
- Talent metrics and KPIs: able to monitor and report on a broad set of Talent KPIs, offering insights and recommendations to improve talent outcomes.
- Technical proficiency in data tools: proficient in advanced data tools and platforms, such as Power BI or Tableau, using them to generate deeper insights and automate reporting processes.
- Research skills: able to conduct research using established methods and procedures, formulate hypotheses, and make informed interpretations of findings.
- Analytical skills: able to analyze data to identify trends, correlations, and outliers, applying statistical methods to solve moderately complex problems.
- User research: able to independently conduct user research activities under guidance, collecting and analyzing data using established methodologies.
- Decision-making: uses substantial discretion in identifying and responding to complex issues, escalating when appropriate.
- Planning: able to plan, schedule, and monitor work to meet objectives, processes, time, and quality targets.
Academic and professional requirements
- Bachelor's degree in People Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, HR, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5–7 years of experience in people analytics, HR data analysis, or a related analytical role.
Nice-to-have skills (preferred)
- Experience with HRIS or workforce planning systems.
- Exposure to data science techniques and model evaluation.
- Experience presenting insights to senior stakeholders.
