Position Summary: Greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical support staff. Establish and maintain a positive attitude with patients and fellow employees by helping each other in areas when needed. Demonstrates knowledge of the age-specific competencies and the skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age and demographic served. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Route telephone calls appropriately - triage nurse etc.
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
Enters patient information into the practice management system and performs computerized registration, appointment scheduling, and discharge activities in the electronic medical record. Verifies and updates necessary insurance information. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties. Performs pre-registration on new patients prior to visit. Gives new patient orientation to all new patients.
Maintains appointment schedules and follows office scheduling procedures, getting necessary and appropriate information and documentation to meet Meaningful Use and other regulatory requirements.
Answers telephone by third ring, screens calls, takes detailed messages and provides (non-medical) information as necessary. Collect payment at time of service when at check out.
Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information.
Operates the office electronic medical record efficiently to complete daily tasks. Also, accesses the hospital’s electronic medical records to pull results for providers. Obtains accurate training to handle cash on a daily basis. Checks for appropriate referral.
Invites patients to patient portal and educates them on using it.
Weighs patients, check vitals, document medications and patient history, draw labs.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Training:
High School graduate or GED.
Prefer 3 years work experience, preferably in medical office setting or hospital.
Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
Microsoft word experience, preferably experience on an electronic medical record.

The expected pay for this position is listed below:
$18.70 - $23.38The final pay rate offered may be more than the posted range based on several factors including but not limited to: licensure, certifications, work experience, education, knowledge, demonstrated abilities, internal equity, market data, and more.
