About the Role: Junior Investment Associate, P4F (Southeast Asia)
The Junior Southeast Asia Investment Associate (SEA IA) plays a critical role in identifying and shaping high-impact forest-friendly grant and technical assistance investments within the P4F portfolio. The SEA IA will be embedded in the Southeast Asia regional team and will report to the South East Asia Investment Manager. The Junior SEA Investment Associate will support investment-related analysis, business planning, and project design to help scale impact within P4F’s portfolio. This role demands a combination of strategic insight, financial modelling skills, relationship management, and a strong delivery mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline development and opportunity analysis
- Work with the Regional Manager to shape a strategic and balanced project pipeline and manage technical assistance accordingly.
- Assess new project opportunities by conducting robust investment analysis to evaluate project fit with programme criteria.
- Develop financial and technical insights/factsheets to communicate key points on certain value chains and the pipeline opportunities.
- Investment analysis and proposal development
- Lead the development of clear, investor-ready business plans with project partners, including financial modelling and commercial strategy, in close coordination with Regional Manager.
- Provide support to other Project Officers (POs) on the design and development of documents for approval by committees.
- Provide advice and analysis into structuring partnerships, including roles, risks, and expected impact outcomes.
- Implementation support
- Lead development of projects in the same way as a Project Officer, ensuring deadlines are managed and stakeholders are engaged
- Deliver ongoing problem-solving support to approved projects as they progress toward scale and investment readiness.
- Contribute to regional strategic planning and reporting to inform decision-making and align with FCDO and programme targets.
- Support the development and management of the south east asia investment network and collaboration alongside the South East Asia Investment Manager.
- Work closely with Regional Manager to manage Technical Assistance resources and grant implementation that are directly related to the scope of business strategy and private investment mobilization (e.g. business plan, business scale-up strategy, market research/go-to- market strategy, financial modelling, company’s financial management, fundraising strategy and plan).
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong Problem-solving and analytical skills, including financial modelling skills..
- Solid experience in delivering high quality results against tight deadlines;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Indonesian;
- Experience or demonstrated interest in sustainability in markets and supply chains;
- Experience in working with a broad range of stakeholders from different cultures; facilitating and mainstreaming complex processes amongst civil society, private sector and governments;
- Strong personal qualities, including integrity, results oriented, commitment to excellence, equality, openness, inclusiveness, collegiality and solving problems even in very difficult situations.
- Comfortable with a degree of travel.
- Bachelors or equivalent degree. Economic, Engineering and Sciences are especially welcome.
Desirable
- Experience and knowledge on developing business case, business strategy, financial modelling, and fundraising for companies (for-profit business/organisations);
- Past experience in management consulting /advisory / consulting / project experience in a high calibre and international environment
- Previous experience in similar work, funded by DFID or other large donor agencies;
- Experience of grant management in development contexts would be an asset; and
- Experience working in agricultural or forest commodities associated with deforestation, such as cocoa, coffee palm oil, soya, timber products etc. would be an asset;

Recent initiatives include advising on circular economy in Germany, developing go-to-market strategies for new technologies as well as forest restoration and preventing ocean plastic pollution in South East Asia.
The high-performing contractors may be considered for a full-time position when an opportunity becomes available.
Requirements
- Very strong analytical skills with high level of comfort and enthusiasm for building dynamic excel models and synthesising large data sets
- For Project Manager specific roles, you will have previous experience leading teams on strategy consulting projects
- Ability to work in a stand-alone capacity and deliver a defined output
- Strong problem solving and structuring skills, delivering intuitive presentations of complex data
- Intellectual curiosity and an interest to quickly dive into new topics,
- Skills and experience of relationship management on a senior level,
- Collaborative team player and can-do attitude,
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify opportunities and new initiatives and to turn them into reality.
