The Red Hat Experience Engineering (XE) Sustaining Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated Student for Internship position who can join our team and who wants to gain hands-on experience with open source and Red Hat products. In this role, you will work in an environment where diverse perspectives are invited, the best ideas are valued, and people feel empowered to contribute. 

You will have the opportunity to learn the release engineering process, the patch review process, the development and execution of backports and test plans, and the creation of automation tools to improve the efficiency, flexibility, and quality of Red Hat’s patch delivery to customers.

Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid, full-time internship based in the Waterford office, with flexible working hours. The expected start date is January 2027.

What you will do:

• Learn Openshift AI product and gain enterprise experience in Release engineering on Kubernetes platform

• Diagnose the root cause of failures

• Learn and contribute to Backport CVEs and bug fixes to stable release streams

• Become responsible for our product quality, continuous integration and delivery, respond to security threats

What you will bring:

• You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from January till August 2027

• Working knowledge of written and spoken English

• Hands-on knowledge with Python and Go programming.

• Good understanding of debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

• Hands-on knowledge of Linux

• Familiar with committing code  to source control systems such as Github/Gitlab

• Knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes or Containers is a plus
