Responsible for creating and managing content that supports the marketing and communications goals of Boys Ranch, Founded by Cal Farley. Produces written and visual content for social media, publications, and promotional materials; helps tell the stories of the children, families, alumni, and programs served by the organization; and supports event promotion, fundraising, recruitment, and brand awareness initiatives. Collaborates with staff across the organization to communicate mission impact and maintain a consistent organizational voice.

Essential Duties:

• Write and edit content for newsletters, donor communications, annual reports, brochures, website content, press releases, and other organizational communications.
• Develop and manage content for the organization's social media channels, including content planning, writing, scheduling, publishing, and engagement.
• Conduct interviews and gather stories that communicate the impact of the organization's mission and programs.
• Assist in the production of organizational publications, including The Roundup, alumni communications, event programs, and special projects.
• Create and maintain website content that supports organizational initiatives, events, and programs.
• Collaborate with departments across the organization to transform information into effective marketing and communication materials.
• Support marketing, promotional, and communication efforts for organizational events, fundraising activities, and community outreach initiatives.
• Capture photography and visual content as needed to support storytelling, social media, publications, and other marketing efforts.
• Exhibits appropriate interactions with residents.
• Assists in creation of content for promotion of the Boys Ranch Rodeo and other special events and/or fundraising activities.
• Provides creative and design content for other departments as needed.
• Attends Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch activities and events to maintain familiarity with organizational activities and programs.
• Assists with developing material for the organizational website.
• Supports all Marketing and Communications activities and initiatives.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field required.
2. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field required, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
3. Proficiency in Desktop Publishing and Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.
4. Demonstrated experience managing professional social media accounts.
5. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
6. Experience creating content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging social media platforms.
7. Ability to identify stories and independently develop content with minimal supervision.
8. Knowledge of social media analytics and content planning.
9. Photography and basic video editing experience preferred.
10. Strong project management skills – with ability to move editorial products across teams.
11. Ability to conduct interviews and translate into messages that resonate.
12. Experience in previous writing, copy editing or editorial role, with an understanding of how content performs and is consumed through digital channels.
13. Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.
14. Proficiency with general office equipment required.
15. Must possess exceptional time management and attention to detail.
16. Must be at least 21 years of age.
17. Must possess valid driver's license.
18. Must be available for travel as needed.
