About the role

We are looking for a Software Development Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of our advertising products and experiences. In this role you will:

• Lead, coach and empower a team of engineering and platforms professionals to reach their goals and achieve their potential

• Be ultimately responsible for the development lifecycle, including code quality and security, testing and deployment

• Inspire with technical vision and build alignments with management and colleagues to fulfill it

• Help refine how the team and group can work together more optimally through Agile processes such as retrospective meetings

• Work with the team Principal Engineer to design solutions optimized for speed, reliability and scale

• Continuously network with technical leaders throughout the organization to capitalize on available technical investments and expertise

• Champion platform uptime and operational excellence

• Identify and introduce new technologies that extends platform offerings, powers more sophisticated functionalities and/or improves overall performance

• Ensure ad technology adheres to evolving legal and privacy regulations

• When necessary contribute to codebase where resource limitations and knowledge gaps exist

This role has been categorized as an Office position. “Office” employees regularly work at the Zillow India office for approximately 80 to 100 percent of their time each month. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Zillow has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role are eligible for incentive compensation subject to applicable laws and relevant Zillow policies. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

• Experience working with ad serving technologies like Google Ad Manager strongly preferred

• Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, both in production and during the development cycle

• Have a deep understanding of system design, application architecture, and design patterns.

• Passionate about development and emerging technologies with a familiarity of the broader advertising technology ecosystem

• Experience in communicating technological concepts and requirements to non-technical partners

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of coding experience across a full stack with a high proficiency in designing, coding and debugging web applications in a variety of frameworks and languages (Java, Node, React, Redux, GraphQL, HTML, SaaS)

• Competency in HTTP-based systems, including diagnosing HTTP traffic and response codes

• At least 2 years as a tech lead or manager with a proven approach towards mentoring and growing others

• Data engineering experience preferred (Hive, Presto, SQL Server, Redshift, Python, Mode Analytics, Tableau, Databricks)

• Experience with cloud services (AWS)

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
