We're looking for a Machine Operator to join our Construction Team in Central Otago. You'll operate a range of civil construction machinery, support pavement construction activities, and work alongside experienced crews delivering essential infrastructure projects. Your work will help build and maintain safer roads and transport networks that connect and enhance communities across the region.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As a Machine Operator, you'll play a key role in delivering a variety of civil construction and pavement projects throughout Central Otago. This is a hands-on, outdoor role working across multiple project sites, including subdivision developments, road rehabilitation works, and major capital projects. You'll operate machinery safely and efficiently while contributing to high-quality project outcomes and maintaining Fulton Hogan's strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and excellence.
 

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Operate a range of construction plant and machinery safely and efficiently, including rollers, loaders, excavators, and other civil construction equipment.

  • Deliver high-quality pavement construction and rehabilitation works across roading and infrastructure projects.

  • Complete daily machine inspections, maintenance checks, and basic servicing activities.

  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, drivers, and construction crews to achieve project objectives.

  • Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements on site.

  • Support general construction activities as required and contribute to a positive team culture.

  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and improvement opportunities to maintain a safe workplace.

  • Full Class 1 and Class 2 New Zealand Driver Licences.

  • Experience operating construction and earthmoving machinery within civil construction environments.

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices.

  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to positive site culture.

  • Good communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude.

  • Ability to follow plans, instructions, and quality standards.

  • Reliability, strong work ethic, and pride in delivering quality outcomes.

  • Experience in pavement construction, roading, subdivision works, or infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
