The Opportunity

MassMutual’s Program Skills Development & Learning Technology (SDLT) team is seeking a Learning & Performance Consultant with Instructional Design skills to design and build clear, practical learning solutions for Operations employees and leaders. In this role, you will translate business needs, role expectations, and performance gaps into learner-friendly content that helps people build skills and perform more effectively in their roles.

You will develop learning content in Articulate Rise and similar learning development tools, support workshop design and facilitation, and create job aids, guides, facilitator materials, participant materials, and quick-reference resources. This role designed for a hands-on builder who can independently manage defined learning design work, coordinate with subject matter experts, and deliver practical materials that are ready for use by learners, facilitators, and business partners.

This work sits at the center of the team’s move toward a more integrated skills-based learning ecosystem. You will help connect content to skills libraries, skills matrices, role-based capabilities, and learning paths so learning is not just well-designed, but clearly tied to what employees need to know and do in their roles.

The Team

You will join the Skills Development & Learning Technology (SDLT) team, part of Operations Shared Services & Enablement. The team builds skills, learning experiences, tools, and performance support that help Operations teams work more effectively. We partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, program owners, learning technology partners, and learning systems and metrics roles to design, deploy, track, and improve learning solutions. The team is collaborative, practical, and focused on building useful learning that supports operational capability and business priorities.

The Impact

  • Design and develop practical learning solutions by creating structured, learner-friendly content in Articulate Rise and similar development tools that help Operations build skills and apply learning on the job.

  • Support workshop and skill-building experiences by developing facilitation structures, activities, participant materials, facilitator guides, and other resources that make working sessions and workshops clear and actionable including solving for potential facilitation needs.

  • Translate business needs into learning objectives and content by working with business partners and subject matter experts to identify performance gaps and turn inputs into usable learning materials.

  • Build performance support and digital learning assets including job aids, quick-reference tools, guides, templates, participant materials, and LMS-ready content that support skill-based learning.

  • Support skills-based learning design by assisting in mapping content to business, customer, leadership, and professional skills, capabilities and role expectations.

  • Improve and maintain learning materials over time by using feedback, learner data, evaluation results, and deployment insights to keep content accurate, consistent, and aligned to team design standards.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

  • 2+ years of experience in instructional design, marketing, communications and or a related facilitator experience.

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience working with subject matter experts to gather content, clarify requirements, validate materials, or simplify complex information for learners.

  • Exposure to skills libraries, skills matrices, capability frameworks, or role-based learning paths.

  • Experience supporting Operations, customer service, financial services, insurance, enterprise learning, or regulated business environments.

  • Familiarity with a Learning Management System and how content is deployed, tracked or maintained.

  • Experience using course evaluation, learner feedback, or learning data to improve effectiveness.

  • Curiosity about AI-enabled learning design and modern content development approaches.
