Join ALS and play an essential role in supporting the analysis of geological samples. As a Rack Management Laboratory Assistant, you will help keep laboratory operations organized, efficient, and on schedule. You will work with a supportive team while developing practical laboratory, documentation, and workflow-management skills in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

In this position, you will be responsible for managing sample solutions and performing laboratory support activities that help our teams deliver accurate, timely results to our clients. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organized, dependable, quality-focused, and comfortable working independently.

What You’ll Do

Manage Inventory: Organize and maintain the department’s sample-solution storage area, ensuring samples are handled, stored and disposed of safely and on time

Support Lab Operations: Wash and leach sample racks and prepare instrument solutions, sample dilutions, and instrument batches as directed

Keep Operations Flowing: Update priority and rush lists, assist with production records, and adapt to changing production needs to meet turnaround times

Maintain Quality & Safety: Follow all standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and safety protocols while using safe work practices 

Collaborate: Troubleshoot issues as needed and perform other related duties as assigned by the Lab Manager

What You’ll Bring

Experience: High School diploma or equivale post-secondary chemistry coursework or at least one year of laboratory experience in analytical chemistry (or related field is preferred)

Skills: Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude, with practical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Organization: Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities efficiently

Communication & Tech: Effective written & verbal English communication skills, plus proficiency in Microsoft Occie (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Work Style: A dependable, quality focused approach with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a team

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 7.5 hours per day
  • Manual dexterity to perform repetitive laboratory tasks
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 operation, including day, afternoon, and overnight shifts, as well as weekends
