About the role:
The Laboratory Assistant (Wash Up) plays a vital role in supporting laboratory operations by ensuring all glassware, equipment, and laboratory utensils are cleaned, sanitized, and available for use. This position contributes to the smooth and efficient functioning of the laboratory while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping.

This role is an excellent entry point into a laboratory environment and provides valuable exposure to laboratory operations and quality systems.

This is a casual opportunity working 2-3 days per week as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, wash, dry, and store laboratory glassware, containers, and equipment.

  • Operate and maintain laboratory dishwashers, autoclaves, and other wash-up equipment.

  • Ensure wash-up areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with laboratory standards.

  • Segregate and dispose of laboratory waste according to approved procedures.

  • Replenish laboratory consumables and supplies as required.

  • Assist with sample container preparation and general laboratory housekeeping duties.

  • Comply with all ALS Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) requirements.

  • Support laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and turnaround times.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, food, or industrial environment is desirable but not essential.

  • Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

  • Ability to follow written procedures and instructions accurately.

  • This role is an excellent entry point into a laboratory environment and provides valuable exposure to laboratory operations and quality systems.
